Talking about "20th Century Fox", there was a local news magazine called "The Seventies" back in 1970s' Hong Kong. By the end of 1979, they changed their name to "The Nineties" (instead of "The Eighties") and went on for almost 20 more years, until I guess around 1998-99, it folded because of Hong Kong's handover back to China. (The magazine had been very critical of the Communist Party since 1976.)

When they chose the "20th Century Fox" name many decades ago, they obviously meant it to reflect a modern, advanced image. However, being new in the movie industry is no longer an image which is desirable, so I think they decided to leave it as "20th Century Fox" because it now represents an image of being well established and knowledgeable. Just my opinion.
