I was hoping to get a deal on that name:laugh: oh well i tried:D
(I knew i wasn't getting a deal just bored and tried)
Here is a copy of the email sent to me:

Thank you for your inquiry.

The assets of Ads.com are now under the control of a group of Ads.com's Noteholders led by Odyssey Capital of San Francisco. It is Odyssey's intention to sell Ads.com's assets individually to the highest bidders, and they have asked me to facilitate that process.

The "ads.com" domain has recently been independently appraised at $450,000. I will be notifying all those who have inquired - along with approximately 50 companies that have reason to want the name - that Odyssey will sell the name to the first company that submits a bona fide offer at that price. If no bona fide offers at the appraised value are received by January 26th, 2003 (Super Bowl Sunday), a public auction will be held on eBay, and the name will be sold to the highest bidder (assuming a minimum acceptable price is met).

In addition to "ads.com", the following domain names are also for sale:

ads.tv ($150,000)
adsavant.com
adsavant.net
adsavant.org
adsavant.biz
adsavant.info
adumentary.com
insideads.com
totallycommercial.com

hehe I got that email too (only had to email once, though). :) It's funny how we're all hunting for the same names! :)

I came in second place bidding on ads.com on Ebay several years ago. The winning bid was $2K.

ads.com is an absolutely top notch name for an advertising agency, etc. Furthermore the original use of the website, as an archive for interesting or entertaining ads, is fundamentally a good concept. Is it worth 500k though? No, not in todays market.

Could someone explain to me why www.Ads.com is worth $50,000, much less ten times that? What buyer wants to see ads?
