Its much bigger then Europe and much more complicated, the time will show and I would be glad to pick up or start a conversation in 2 years how it finally worked out.

And odds are that it's a much bigger scam then .eu and much more complicated :)

on the first view the rules look clear, but then when you start digging its a bit messy, but I think its still ok and easier as .eu, what bothered me in .eu is that if PWC said you lost, well you lost. in dotasia you have 7 days to complain. and the rules after few times reading are understandable.
Honestly, today each TLD is messing Registrars and customers up with rules. but it is not the fault of the Registrars, there are to many fights going on.

I have yet to see a registrar that will publicly bash the extensions that it sells :approve:

This .asia landrush outcome better not be a debacle. The registrars should formulate a sensible and coherent policy for post-rush auctioning that doesn't piss a lot of people off. "Too many fights going on" doesn't cut me any mustard.

"Too many fights going on" sometimes I write a bit confusing, I know, espeacially when to much shit is arround me and I can not type at the moment. (put a screwdriver in my left hand on the weekend, it hurts!)

back to topic, with the fights I meant, that TM-holders WIPO putting pressure on registries to define tide rules. Eurid was really under fire after the landrush.
DotAsia made already a lot better, but I think it is hard to do the perfect system.

Doesn't inspire confidence at all.

what would make it confident for domainers to invest in a new TLD?
Our industry is already so big that the generic names of a new TLD is cleaned up within 24h after landrush. An organic growth like the .com had is simply not possible any more.

Look, I just don't buy all this not for profit crap.

Affilias does the back end for this, as it does dot Mobi.

If they are going to auction of all these premium domains for a large of amount of money, where is the profit actually going to end up?

From where I am standing dot Asia just looks like a front for somebody to make a lot of money. But then whilst Affilias may be making plenty money, show me one successful registry they have set up! From my perspective they just move from one scam to the next.
