Here is a funny comment from his blog. :)

Too bad you haven't been doing any kind of development. If the domain had been ranking in Google in the top 5 you certainly could have gotten more. But honestly you're the laziest domainer in history, so it's par for the course.

I'm the buyer. Once we sell 30,000,000 jelly babies we'll be even. joking!

So in a case like this, if the .com sells for $3M, what is the .net worth?
(i am not the .net owner). I am really curious. There ought to be a
ballpark formula.

If the buyer only put up a ppc screen then the .net has more chance perhaps,
to get established first.

There is no single method to deduce this.

Usually, other TLDs get "buried" by the weight of such a large sale of the .com

Then again, the .net can be utilized in a niche sub-market that the .com does not cover.
E.g. if Hershey's buys Candy.com the .net can be used by a quality chocolatier in France or Germany.
After all, Hershey's chocolate tastes like fine mud off an anthill.

Hahahahaha....Love that...!

There's only one Candy.com....And, it says it for that market....If generic domains have any value at all - then, $3m doesn't seem a lot to me for a category killer, even if the term, 'Candy', is largely limited to the North American market.

The real question is which is worth more, chocolate.com or candy.com? I'm going with chocolate.com, Rick gets the dog house with a measly $3 mil. :D

Another excellent sale.

We have been seeing quite a few 6 figure sales lately and even a few 7 figures; top sales even depsite the economic conditions.
Wonder what SHOW.com (no reserve) will fetch!

yes, thanks for that.

Shows.com.... should fetch at least mid 6 figures at an absolute minimum.

To whom? You'd need at least two endusers bidding on it for anything near that, and who are the endusers for this name?

Who are the potential end users? Isn't this domain generic enough?

Any leading TV station on the planet, some of the top entertainment centers in Vegas, theatres, cinemas.... the list goes on and on.
