no, this was done due the fact that there where so many adult websites on the .CN domains and they are trying to get rid of them.

If you report an adult website on the .CN domain you can get a reward of up to 10,000 RMB (about 1000 Euros - $1500)

I might start hunting down a few .cn porn sites, sounds lucrative!

one should make an adult site on his .cn with fake registration and report it to get 10,000 RMB award :D

To be honest I'm not entirely against this policy. It ensures that only people who have a legitimate claim to a domain actually get it...

yeah, in an ideal world someplace in the universe that is how domains are doled out...no TM issues, no infringement, smiling-happy-people-all-around, kumbaya

Hardly surprising coming from a top Internet censor government. That's the least you could expect - for now.

OF COURSE, there are LOTS of fun in China. Remember Macau (which is part of China) actually supercedes Las Vegas in gambling revenue and becomes the largest casino hotspot on earth. And if you think Internet porn is banned, welcome to some real sex in China. I would say the adjective "boring" is too far away from reality; in fact, the (dirty) fun is so overwhelming that it's ... "criminal".

The bigger problem of this former Communist state is NOT the lack of freedom but that of regulation and control (of the Capitalists) and social welfare and justice (for the people who are left behind in the money grabbing game).

China is a amazing country, yet nowadays the gov. is TOO corrupted.

Back to .cn domain, the prices affected so quickly, price dropped 10%-20% since this stupid policy issued, and will be more.

I'm worrying that many domainers will leave, and take their money leave; many big domain investors lost for .cn invest and will tighten their .com invest, the international domain market will be affected.

Chinese businesses will still need domains to expand, they are starting to learn slowly that an internet presence is almost essential and China is pushing .cn particularly idn.cn !

So new registrations are restricted to businesses, not too difficult to get a biz registration in most countries. No restriction on nationality for buying .cn, don't see too many problems with having some sort of control.

Existing registrations and renewals not subject to same regulations but simply be aware that your content determines the legality/acceptance of the domain, break the rules and accept the consequences- simple!

What are you basing this on? I don't see why this would effect prices, at least end user prices. Might effect the liquidity of domains among domainers who don't have a business license, but if you are a serious investor you should already have one or not have too much of a problem getting one.

Have you been to both Macau and Las Vegas? I don't doubt that Macau will have triple or more the gambling revenue of Las Vegas in the not-too-distant future - but it will never, ever compete in the 'hotspot' department.

All that gambling revenue comes from highrollers silently playing Baccarat - hardly the same as the environment you find on the Vegas Strip. Then there is the C- nightlife of Macau and the A+ nightlife of Vegas - and the world class shows in Vegas and the non-existant shows in Macau. On shopping I guess its about a wash - but thats about the only place where Macau even comes close to Vegas in the fun department.

As a matter of fact, I HAVE BEEN to both Macau and Las Vegas (AND Atlantic City AND Monte Carlo, among other casino "hotspots"), but it doesn't really matter. Casinos are all about gambling, the Venetian type of "vacation" packaging does make a difference, but it's always the money that really matters. That is also why Vegas locals like Sands and MGM Mirage have ALREADY invested heavily there (Macau) in case you're not aware of that.

Are you SURE you know more about "one country, two systems" than I do? Think again.

It is a very worrying precedent tbh.

.US, .CO.UK, .DE and .CA already have nexus requirements, but if they suddenly said that only companies could register them, there would be more than a little shake up, of that I'm sure.

I'll stick to the ones w/o any nexus requirement. Btw, even .in adult content and gambling is prohibited for Indian citizens.
