The expected Godaddy Superbowl Commercial featuring the .CO extension will bring in a new wave of investors like none before. If you didn't invest in .CO, well that's your lost. I have to admit though, I could have invested in more names but played cautiously despite having a decent LLL.co portfolio.

Do you think this will be a game changer? Godaddy has brought more attention to the domain industry to the masses more then any entity and yet again on the U.Ss' biggest stage.

You can put all the lipstick you want on a pig - it's still a pig.

Change .co in your screed to .mobi, or .tel and it's nothing that hasn't been proclaimed before.

"bofa.mobi it's a game changer!"

"foxnews.mobi - it's on tv - all mobis are valuable now"

will bring in a new wave of investors like none before.
New 'investors' who acted because of a godaddy commercial - yeah they will change the face of domaining I am sure. Cannot wait for the appraisal threads for 1kooldomain4u.co etc.

As for not investing in .co being my "lost" - I'd rather be lost with .co than found thank you very much.

Anyone else got a case of deja vu?

Those extensions have never experienced being put on the big stage especially by the world's largest registrar. My friends may have no clue about domaining but they KNOW Godaddy. That keen relationship will be a powerful game changer after the airing imo. And I never said ALL .co will be valuable as one could never say that ALL .com's are valuable.

What I AM saying is that this will be a VALUE ADDING wave for those invested in the .CO extension.

The only people who are going to make money because of godaddy's commercial will be the NFL and Godaddy.

No.

LOL 'nuff said :eek:k:

BTW .mobi can't fail because it has the unprecedented backing of large corporations like microsoft google nokia etc right ?

Exactly. Godaddy will get a good bunch of new .co registrations but that's it.

Superbowl is a big event but you would need more such events to be repeated again and again, then the public would take note, provided the extension is eventually embraced by end users (highly doubtful).

Let's take the .TV for instance. It wasn't popular in it's initial 'coming out' party with Sedo. It took it needing to be recycled, re-marketed, and re-distributed through a global medium that insisted on it's success. So many of us have forgotten how for a while there used to be a Sedo.TV. The domain industry is fickle... and no extension is the same. To compare .mobi with .CO is ridiculous without attaching numbers to those thoughts. You know nothing of marketing if you think the largest registrar on the biggest stage isn't going to effect consumer/domainer bottom line. It's not about moving the experienced settled in domainer as you are but opening up a new stream of revenue. The internet is forever changing and it is sound strategy (even as a defensive mechanism) to not play certain hands especially given the potential output.

What's ridiculous ? If an extension failed in spite of being backed by top companies I think the message is clear.

Godaddy sure knows about marketing. Ask Bob about .me, but hey it's already old news :eek:k:

You can make general and baseless statements all you want and allude to other ccTLDs as though they are an infraction on .CO. Show some data... some numbers that say this will not be a note worthy extension and some will take you seriously. In all professional courtesy... please offer something that proves the expectations from the majority wrong other then welcomed criticism that is expected from the few.

I've lost some money in the .me hype (small amount but significant for proving myself something).
I think .co is just another hype. Where can we check for .co sales?
