One of the reasons why this forum will never be a credible business forum is because of the amateur, unprofessional members. VentiMocha sent me a PM offering $20,000 for NorthKorea.info and SouthKorea.info, we had a few PM's back and forth and I finally accepted his $20,000 offer. The one thing that you can do to piss me off is to login to the forum and not check my PMs, especially when you've made an XX,XXX offer. Do you not see the flashing yellow box at the top of the screen? I've had the same problem with this person when he offered to buy an IDN which I had for sale, though he was using a different screen name. Dont be a coward VentiMocha, either man up to your offers or simply leave. We need to start showing investors that domain names are equal to, if not better than stocks, bonds, currency, and any other commodity.

Welcome to the club.

Had a slime bag from the UK do the same with me - agreed to 18k in sales and a year later I am still awaiting the wire transfer - hey even a reply would be nice! I stopped holding my breath a long, long time ago.

Tough luck!

All the best,

Frank

Hi Justin,

Sorry to hear that and thanks for the heads up on the buyer. It gets frustrating especially with those who have only been on the board for a few years and use it as an excuse that they "didn't know they were supposed to xyz", or worse they insist they have more experience and know more than the senior members. OK..I'll stop venting now..know how you feel and it's a real bummer.

Good Luck, hope it works out somehow.

Looks like the name and shame game is going to heat up.

I've been stiffed on several thousands of dollars recently through sedo auctions. Whether the bidder is a member or not, all details will be published once made available to me.

Thus far this year, 4 from Sedo, one from Afternic, and one from NameDrive, and three from direct communication.

This is a much needed thread and perhaps a sticky, although legal issues my abound.

Sedo is the worst for non-paying buyers in my experience, Sedo need to sort something out to stop this, I think a deposit that would be paid towards the domain (but not given back if they don't pay) would definitely help the situation, but maybe be difficult to implement in practise.

They used to ban or suspend people for this kind of blatant act on the forums, DNF needs to have a 3 strike rule or something

I have recommended this time after time.

The buyer certification process is the joke of them all:

In the continued effort to maintain a successful and secure marketplace, we ask that all buyers certify their accounts before making an offer. This improved protection benefits all members of the Sedo marketplace and shortens the transaction process.

Please note: Sedo’s Buyer Certification program does not guarantee that a buyer will perform their obligations when agreeing to purchase a domain name.

So the point of all of this was...???

Yes, the buyer confirmation thing makes me laugh, I managed to do it from my mobile phone which they texted with an authorisation code, all that proves is that I have a mobile phone. Nothing More.

Be aware, whether this person is a member or not, if you receive offers that this person will not pay. After thousands of dollars in unpaid Sedo auctions, hopefully Sedo will do the right thing and ban this individual.

why can't a member start a thread about a serious issue, without it turning it bullshit posts?

Sorry to hear that, I been to the same situation.. I once had a big website for sale and was offered $26k for it.. So we agreed on this price but then I never heard from the guy again.. Tried to contact him several times but he ignored the PMs when he was online.. Just a simple reply would be nice telling me that other stuff has come up and he can't buy the site at the moment or something like that. Very bad behavior.

maybe everyone has similiar things happening to them and since DNF does nothing about it we try to make ourselves feel better with humor..a.k.a "bullshit" ...laughter is good medicine, esp. when people back out of deals left and right and nobody seems to do anything about it.

I concur.

Dnfourm does not appear unprofessional to the public in the least bit when someone behind closed doors doesn't pay. This happens in all businesses, it is a part of doing business. Non paying members should be penalized, I agree. However the greatest threat to appearing unofessional was struck on by Biggie. I am all for good humor but serious matters deserve serious replies. Talk of drug use, sex and mocking those who struggle with english :uhoh: I also agree with Focus, if you have been banned 3 times you are obviously to stupid to get with the program or very disrespectful. 3 times, no matter why should lead to life time ban and loss of membership/fee. Obviously theives and the like wouldnt make it that far.

Rockefeller, thank you for the heads up on this user.

Totally agree with you agreeing with me, people that fail to complete 3 transactions or back out of 3 firm offers, etc should be banished as this hurts our business and makes us all lose money (and waste alot of time)...ebay has a good handle on this situation and if you back out of too many deals then c-ya! I wonder what can or is being done relating to this serious issue we all face here on DNF?

I actually said
3 times, no matter why
. Again because anyone who gets banned 1....2....3 times , for either non payment, vulgarity, insults, etc. Can be given some leniency once , twice but three times ? Thieves are gone first time, no doubt.

A three times banned meber is nothing but disrespectful.
