news DNForum.com 2022 - Important Announcement

Dear Member,

DNForum is undergoing an overhaul in 2022, starting with a management change from Feb 2022. I, Anita Walker, am taking over as DNForum Director from David Walker @amplify. I would like to firstly thank David for his massive contribution in setting up the bones of the forum in 2021. I will be administrating the forum alongside Furquan Ahamed @Furquan. With this change of guard, I would like to touch upon my vision for DNF going forward.

Being the OG of domaining forums we intend to bring DNF roaring back like a tiger (2022 is the year of the tiger), by growing and uplifting the domaining community.
DNF is free and will remain free (no premium accounts).
The discussions on DNF will become more business focussed - hence all other off-topic discussions except technology & business related will be discouraged. I believe business people have very little free time, so we aim to ensure their time is well-spent on DNF.
We plan to engage the domaining community not only on DNF but also on various platforms, including but not limited to Clubhouse, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. We hope to bring in new sections and features to make our community more vibrant, helpful, and united on all fronts.

To make DNF great again, we count upon every member's cooperation. We thank you for your support and patience as we together move towards this goal.

warmest regards,
Anita

So I logged in today after someone spammed my message box with a couple crappy names. I decided to edit my signature which had 3 links and see I could only have 1 now. The benefits I paid money for a "Exclusive" lifetime membership are gone.

Do I feel ripped off? Yeah. At least when new ownership/management changes came along in the past - those that paid for their memberships still had their extra benefits. I recommend you somehow reward those that had paid money to support the existence of the forum in the past (even during turbulent times).
Hi Larry, I will ensure this issue is rectified ASAP. Thanks for bringing it to our notice and welcome back.

Greetings,

Amazed to see so many changes in DNF. Login in rarely over last few years but only now realized the authors, moderators and the ownership changes along with the looks and feel. A total new platform it seems and too silent.

I can only wish DNF (staff/moderators) all the very best for the things you have done, you are doing and things you aspire for!

I see myself as a legacy member now in the badge (almost 21 years with DNF) and hope to remain till DNF keep afloat the new tides in technology, with human touch in the forum.

Best wishes.

Good morning,

Thank you!! And, it is amazing to see you, one of the earliest DNF members, still enjoying it!!

@ecomindia can I ask you a question: what do you think of an idea of launching a "Speak Your Language" category and in Hindi? .. is this needed or do all Indians prefer talking English in global and local platforms?

Thank you. Interesting question but a simple yes and no may not justify.

India, a country of 1.4B+ people is spread from northern touching Himalayas, southern touching Indian Ocean, western close to Arab and Africa and eastern close to China / east Asian countries. With each of the 28 states (provinces) and union Territories (provinces with special administrative privileges) having their own culture, language/s, belief system, food, festivals and so forth. The diversity India has, no common language or system can define India or Indians.

What i understand from your question is to tap and connect with the Indian users in best possible way, Hindi might be the official language, but its mostly spoken in North, West, Central and very few parts of East and south. It's English that mostly ties Southern and Eastern India to Rest of India.
(hope i am politically right as this is still a sensitive topic to few :) ).

Income per capita plays a significant role to the type and medium of education with private schools teaching mostly in English medium and government schools teaching mostly in local/regional medium language . Private schools are on expensive side and hence, penetration to private schools or coaching centers has increased over last few decades with Indian growth story resulting in higher English speakers .

You may follow google /fb and other tech companies approach by going for the top/major 5-6 spoken languages - Hindi (55%), Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi.

OR

So with all the story telling, it's safe to say - "keep it simple, keep it English".
You may also have to see the return on investment from not only revenue but user experience per se if it may require tech changes to support that many languages and ratio of Indian users on the platform.

Hope it helps.

Ahh.. great reminder!! Thank you!!

Yes, I have heard that some compare India to the former Soviet Union, or EU > by so explaining that there are many nations, religions and different languages (and language groups) in it.

Thank you!!

So with all the story telling, it's safe to say - "keep it simple, keep it English".

now it all makes sense!! Thank you!!
