I was able my surname.com about a year or two back. When I originally looked to register it, it was actually taken. I do not know anyone except immediate family who have my surname (trust me - its very unique), so it was a suprise to see it taken. Luckily, they didnt renew and I was able to grab it.

This is one domain I will never let go.

I own firstnamelastname.com/.net/.us and lastname.net/.name/.in/.info/.biz/.co.uk/.org.uk/.me.uk

I registered all of them except lastname.net... I had to buy that from NetIdentity for about $100.00

And when you get famous you can just file a lawsuit and get it from the owner :)

Being the only techie in the entire family (except for one son), I have regged all my clan's surnames and namesurname in the .com space -- eons ago. Best email address to use is [email protected] IMHO.

I just regged my full name about 2 days ago. im now using [email protected] .. People respect that :approve:

a shame my brother couldn't do the same.. Seems his name is more popular than mine.. even though our last names are the same. and there are 12.7K google results for my full name..

I registered my full (well, almost full) name, though my surname was taken back in 97.

As long as it is your real name you have nothing to worry about.

Quite; nobody can dispute your ownership of a domain if it constitutes your real name. I suppose it begs the question about changing your name by deed poll (UK term for legally changing it) to your best cybersquat. Maybe if I owned Ferrari.com I would change by name to Ferrari. I wish. Had the cars but never the domain.
