Have you ever suffered from domain name burnout? I think I'm feeling it right now, domain names seems like blaaaaah.

Yes, I'm suffering from an acute case of domainivitis at the moment - but is there a cure?

blaaaaah is the new shangri-la

They do tend to get to you once in a while... I've certainly had some bad Domain days...

Is taking a break the only solution? Do you find that the fun of picking up good domains for cheap is gone? I mean, buying domains at end user prices is a no brainer, any idiot can acquire good names if they have a few million to flush down the toilet.

I still manage to pick up the odd cheapo here and there, nothing with huge resale value, more so developable names just incase I can't move them, I dont bother with the biggies, too rich for my blood.

Its hard to take a break when everyone else is still going strong and the names continue to drop, you snooze you loose...

Yes, several times had that seriously happen to me. It's similar to to executive burnout. One solution I have discovered is to leave the forums for a while (1 or 2 mos works well). It also helps to stop buying names for a while too, which are a side-effect or fringe benefit from leaving the forums.

Perhaps I should not admit this openly but sometimes it seems I subconsiously actually desire a flame/posting war, or find some exagerated reasons to complain about member posts, or be somewhat negative toward the admins/mods, (mostly regarding some perceived lack of knowledge or even their apathy), perhaps as an excuse in my mind to leave the forums for a while. As done in the past too, I am now on 'vacation' from 2 other domain forums and even 2 webhosting/seo forums.

Finding casino.com or sex.com available to hand register is the only
cure ... going to a casino and getting a hooker doesn't work.

Thanks for the warning that was next on my list.

What happened to our old Platinum accounts? The ones we paid 49.95 for? That may be why there is a burnout here. :bandit: I can see that I have been away too long. Are they selling them for a dollar now? Also I have about 200 domains I need to sell, does the old auction still work the same?

Hi Tommy, Welcome back, good to see ya. Hope your domain burnout is now gone.

BTW, I always thought suem.com was owned by "radios" the #1 poster at the (very wild) old afternic forums a few yrs ago? What ever happened to him anyway? I heard you were in some form of partnership with him at one time, how did that turn-out, just wondering?

Hello there RealNames, long time no see. I lost track of Radios for about a year and I bought suem.com at an auction here I think. He had lost it to a snap I think, I can't quite remember. We had to part ways because he had too many ideas and he wouldn't stay with any of them long enough to do anything with. Every now and again he will holler at me. I think he went back to being a attorney in Kansas City again. I see we lost our Platinum value here.

Hi Tommy - The auction works but it too is suffering from burnout! Platinum Accounts are not being sold for $1 but upgrades to Platinum Lifetime are.

Hello Mr Webname good to see your moving on up at the East Side! lol That page confused me some. It was saying that I will have to pay another 50 now? Correction: I just upgraded for a dollar, thanks for clearing that up for me. At first I didn't get it about the dollar on the upgrade page. But I paid a 1.00 and it changed my Platinum Bar that quick. Wow! Some things work better than expected these days.
