The marketplace really is the final arbiter of value. If the subject domain really is an eBay or Amazon, then people will be tripping over themselves to buy it (which they obviously aren't doing).

We've all registered junk at one time or another, myself included.

One thing 'growing up' means is being able to accept fair criticism.

Don't lash out at your colleagues for giving you candid comments. It's a good way to lose friends.

What you see as lashing out, I see as criticizm. Maybe they are the same thing.

More meaningful then a name like ebay.com or amazon.com. Those are popular sites but if you never went to them, you wouldn't have the first clue what they are about.

Grow up.

This is a common mistake. As domain names, ebay and amazon are not great (though amazon is far better than ebay, for obvious reasons). All of the immense value of these domains came not from inherent worth, but from promotional efforts, innovative business models and a hell of a lot of advertising money.

I am afraid printsex has nothing going for it whatsoever, and the potential is always going to be limited because not only is it a crappy name, but it is not a "friendly" name that could benefit from mass advertising (such as ebay or amazon)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You got crap, but consider yourself lucky to be learning these tough lessons in the days of $7 domain registrations. We were not all so lucky.

I just realized this was originally a sales thread - I only added my 2 cents because I saw it in the lounge.

I'm sorry criticmaster - I would have kept my mouth shut had I realized what it was.

This is not derogatory, just a professional opinion.
DC, whether Drewbert is 100% right or wrong, doesn't matter. His opinions and feedback are thoroughly appreciated and needed in the APPRAISAL forum... just NOT in Sales threads. If everytime someone went to SELL something, you got comments from the peanut gallery, the idea of selling ANYthing would be hard. For a CLEAR example of how easily this behavior can go wrong, just look at this thread here:
http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20821

Even if the seller needs to "learn a thing or two", seek them out in the APPRAISAL section, where they've clearly asked to be criticized (or if you are honestly trying to help them, PM your comments). It's that simple. Common courtesy.

Candid is a PM. In a public sales thread its more like "mockery".

This was a sales thread and thats all I wanted it to be. You people had no right to attack it the way you did. Ads should only get responses of interest.

Those names are similiar to PrintSex.com. What if my website was about the printing industry for adult sex? You don't know what use it could have. PornoMag.com is as questionable as mine.

There you go - believing the automatic appraisal systems that think that the shorter the domain, the better.

I'd take inkcartridges.com over printsex.com ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

And if you can't handle critisism in your sales thread then STOP EFFING REPLYING WITH STUPID REMARKS LIKE "Maybe the value itself is low because it is two words and has eight letters, but the meaning is mostly obvious."

Print Sex? "Printing industry for adult sex"? Gimme a break!

PornoMag.com is as questionable?

Jaaaa! Right!
