I've initiated a transfer about 5 days ago and earlier today I've emailed Dotster to expedite the transfer. Here is a quote from their reply:

Andrei,
Good day. I see that this is in the transfer status as of right now .I can expedite that domain transfer for you. However I will need to see a driver's license for Andrei ... . Please fax that to me at ***-***-*** with the domain name and please state that you would like your domain transfer expedited.
Thank you,
Annie

Does that happened to anyone else?

I have to say it's the 1st time when I see a Registrar asks for the ID to transfer a domain.

GoDaddy used to do that for ANY transfer to a new owner, back in 2000 or so. I guess it's related to you asking for an expedited transfer.

After I've initiated the transfer, I've received an email from Dotster telling "NOTE: By not visiting the link above, this transfer request will be APPROVED within the next 72 hours."

I've emailed them after those 72 hrs passed.

Yeah, all you have to do is wait the 5-7 day period for the domain to be transferred.

Yes, I think that ID verification is required only to expedite the transfers.

I've emailed them back and sent a jpeg with a scanned ID. I don't have a fax.

Back in those days, I even had to ask a lawyer friend to notorize a form for ownership transfer. But these day, I HATE when registrars ask for anything.
