I can also verify that there were some drops today. Broadbandtool.com was one that dropped. It was pending delete and it is now available.

oops. I didn't know you were the one who had the snap on AmericanRiders.com. I just thought you noticed there was a snap on it. I obviously didn't read the posts very carefully. My point wasn't to say it was a poor domain (not that you'd care what i think anyway) .. just was saying that it seems that people like the idea of getting domains on a drop rather than buying from a reseller, ... probably because the feeling of "winning" or "beating the competition" is more fun than buying from a reseller. I bet there are people that, if they saw theriders.com was dropping, would put a snap on it, but if they saw i had it for sale at $60, wouldn't bother to buy it.

Please confirm, pending delete date is 2-26-03
Add 5 days
6th day it drops?

According to the recent grabs by
americanriders.com
muscleparts.com

These names had a pending delete date of 2/25
Add 5 days
They dropped today 3/3

I think I did the math correctly :)

ok, its been a while. name cant be found. If it was re-registered at the time you say it was, it should be in updated shois by now. bottom line, it didn't drop yet, but its close, apparently.

bottom line, it DID drop.

rely on the whois output and you are always going to be at least 15 1/2 hours late.

thats cool. Why it took twelve hours from original post to update is beyond me. But I like the idea that we now have confirmation of this timetable. Curious. Was it at NETSOL previously?

Is it just me, or do people just love the "thrill" of the drop, even if the name sucks?

You could get far better names on dnf for $5 then some of the trash some people are picking up just because its a "drop". Hello, anybody home?

theres no real reason I can see for names like y5d.com to be
worth more than goodname.com,

[edit] - I know they ARE worth more, just its isn't that logical

but at registry prices under $7, any name is worth it.

At worst, you can sell it on for $15 on ebay, still at a (tiny) profit

I can confirm that this PENDINGDELETE status
on newly dropped domains is bogus. I definitively
catched one myself with a script
(at the classic prime time btw.) and it still looks like

Registrar: KEY-SYSTEMS GMBH
Whois Server: whois.rrpproxy.net
Referral URL: http://www.key-systems.net
Name Server: NS1.DOMAINDISCOUNT24.NET
Name Server: NS3.KEY-SYSTEMS.NET
Name Server: NS2.KEY-SYSTEMS.NET
Name Server: NS1.KEY-SYSTEMS.NET
Status: PENDINGDELETE
Updated Date: 27-feb-2003
Creation Date: 04-jan-2002
Expiration Date: 04-jan-2003

Netsol even doesn't update the dates in time,
just the Registrar and the nameservers.
It's not in the zone yet.

How does Netsol verify the may-be-immediately-deleted-shortly-after-registration
period? Maybe they keep PENDINGDELETE for that purpose?
