Got to https://www.nic.es/ingles/index.html & do a domain search.
Click on "registrar en esnic" button.
If there are orders queued you will get a result like this:-

I have just checked lots of A-E domains & most are queued. My guess is that they have outstanding requests from the second phase or they are pending payment. If the first application is invalid or the payment is not cleared within 7 days then they will pass to the next in line - so it looks like there is still some way to go before this is over!
