I am so sick and tired of people posting estibot values and jacking up prices on useless names.

If you will notice, the seasoned pros on this forum and others don't even mention estibot. Why? Hmmmm.

I have been in this business for almost 12 years. The true valuation of a domain comes from what the market will pay. Not what some script spits out.

If you want a true valuation of your domain, ask Adam, JP or several others on this forum who know the true value.

I am not a pro myself. But after hundreds of sales of domains, I can come up with a ballpark figure.

I am sorry, but this is getting old and someone needed to speak up!

Furthermore, if you have to use Estibot for valuations you're probably in the wrong business, but then again, other domainer's don't always know the true value of a domain. That's something you need to figure out for yourself. Domain names have different values to different people. People have asked me what I thought of a domain they paid $15,000 for and I told them $500. I have asked people what they thought of a name that I paid $10,000 for and they told me $500 and then I sold that name for $65,000 the next day...you just have to know what a name is worth before you buy it...and especially before you attempt to sell it.

Agreed. This has been debated before and doesn't go away. People who don't know need a general idea of what their domain is worth. So they seek out services that can help them. *shrugs* Best I can come up with.

We all live and learn but this is what keeps their hopes up high in order to someday make a big sale. I sometimes use estibot but don't depend on it for any valuations. I use the Sponsor Ads system. If there's lots of advertising on any search engines for that keyword than its a good buy or simply watch auction prices.

And to even think that I used to use Leapfish ... lol

Agree ! Not to mention you're blowing your credibility.
Also keep in mind domainers (resellers) are less prone to pay the end user prices spit out by estibot and its siblings. We will only pay what we're willing to pay.

Estibot is good for play, not for appraise domains.

There was LeapFish before and they were using it to market their domains in past, now the trend is estibot.

I recently had domains turned down from a listing service because the asking price and the estibot estimate did not match.

The person was actually trying to say that I had over priced my names because estibot was what he was going by.

Well, when I showed him what estibot says my name was worth and what someone recently paid for it he still would not accept it as being estibot is full of dookie.

I agree with Sterling, However the problem is not just with Estibot, You can quote a paid appraisal from Moniker, Sedo or Godaddy and you'll get the response; "It's only worth what the buyer is willing to pay for it"... Similar point of what Sterling made;

The true valuation of a domain comes from what the market will pay.

Quoting any appraisal here is really pointless, learned that a long time ago.

estibot said that domain price is 700 usd, but domain was sold for 50,000 usd. estibot is just a domainer toy.

My point exactly. An estibot appraised name for $460 that sold for $35,000.00.

Honestly, if someone needs a guide (other than experienced domainers and domain history) then there is some issues that need to be resolved.

It is the same way with those "undesirable" characters.

I love em and gobble em up.

And Chinese love em too.

Like most tools, Estibot is good for some purposes, but you shouldn't expect too much from it.

When it appraises a domain, it provides some useful numbers: WordTracker, Overture, max bid, average CPC, etc. I use those numbers (along with other factors) to help me mass-price domains that I'm flipping to resellers. (I price many domains at roughly 1/20 to 1/50 of the Estibot value, but that's more of an observation than a guideline.)

Remember, too, that Estibot provides many other services besides domain appraisals! My membership there is a valuable asset.

HI

I ran many of my names thru esibot today... and I have to say if you don't know what your names are worth... but had a feeling you would sell for what esibot told you... then it is a good tool

EstiBot.com Domain Appraisal USD 24,000 for linkdirectory.com

I would sell the name for that price... but the site makes 1-2k per month...

and this is what estibot can not tell.... so I would not sell for under 50k

and I have any sites like this...

Estibot 2.0 is used by Valuate.com which I find more accurate overall than the original Estibot code.

Estibot is great for many reasons, I don't go for the appraisal values though they are way off most of the time.

Are these end user quotations or reseller?.... The appraisals I'm getting are over the place, just like Estibot.
