EDIT

Sorry Gregr maybe my post about fabulous.com was a little out of order

I think you could get a better deal with someone like Snapnames.

Wasn't any need to delete me as moderator

i think that dnforum is in a little bit of a bad position with respect to ads - obviously domain related ads should do better than other webmaster related adverts but because of the high level of knowledge amongst dnf members, domain ads dont seem to be received as well

Id reccomend greg thinking about the idea of advertising other webmaster related sites - for example hosting, web design etc

if only for a few weeks to see what the return is - i found templatemonster to be quite successfull - id reccomend you try them greg

great commission levels as well

Is this why Whois-Search is not a moderator anymore??

I don't think gregr has a choice, when the costs of running this forum are so high. Most people are not going to pay to visit a forum, the people who are willing to do so are the "regulars" who speak up the most. All the lurkers out there won't pay membership fee...

IMO banners are the only choice, regardless if they are a waste or not. I don't think they are though, they now have quite some exposure for the company. Already I am seeing names registered at Fabulous.com being sold here.

Had Dan still owned this forum, the advertising that fabulous.com signed up for, would be what saved the forum.

RedHawk would have been paraded through the streets on the backs of DNFers.

This thread is inexcusable. There are a couple of members that I could expect something like this from but from one of my moderators, this is too much to swallow.

So Whois-Search is no longer a moderator here. He is still a member here and he should be treated with respect for the work he's done.

Well, I must say - seeing that opening post was a bit of a shocker. It's like watching the Super Bowl and coming out of a commercial break you hear John Madden say, "Boy, those Budweiser ads sure are a waste of air time!"

I knew WhoIs-Search would get a little something extra in his pay envelope for that one this week (and as I expected it was colored pink)!

As for the company in question, I reiterate that I very much appreciate their advertising support - it benefits all of us. Red Hawk was also very responsive to a matter I brought up in another thread and some very respected members here are speaking highly of the company. Haven't checked them out myself yet - but I now expect that I will.

WHOA!?!?!

"So Whois-Search is no longer a moderator here. He is still a member here and he should be treated with respect for the work he's done."

And, it was only a few days ago that I read that 'Namepopper is (might be) leaving, as well. Namepopper (Nick) is a good guy and I'm sorry to see that he is (might) be leaving. 'Whoissearch (Andrew) on the other hand, well, it was just a matter of time, really. In light of the above post, it's now ... well past HIS time! I pray Bob's still around. Anyway ... Good Luck, Gregr.

PS. I agree with the web hosting/design/development idea for future banners, as well. Take care.

The $500 a month which they pay you I think you could get a better deal with someone like Snapnames.

If you don't like that Gregr then I suggest you delete my User name from this website as well.

After all the posts I make and the help I gave you.

FABULOUS news.

Whois-Search was only a mod for his own gain and interests. That much was obvious. I've not been impressed at the way he has edited my comments on here when I have justifiably argued with him over his actions and sheer stupidity.

I'm not the only person to have criticised him for the way he has conducted himself, but I have already referenced that in previous postings so I won't bring it up again.

Hopefully dnforum.com can now continue to be a worthwhile forum for domainers, with or without Whois-Search.

I look forward to a new mod (if indeed Gregr is going to appoint one) that can operate in a responsible manner for the benefit of the forum and not for their own commerical gain.

Although I don't believe that Namepopper.com and myself have ever 'spoken', for what it is worth I have always considered him to be a good mod since he joined the forum.

I wish him the best of luck whatever he decides; whether he decides to continue (which I guess requires a fair bit of work) or departs from the role.

Why does Andrew feel that Fabulous.com is a joke ? I've seen it twice now, but no explanation why the opinion was formed.

No idea. But if you remember when GregR launched his own WHOIS site linked from DNForum.com, Andrew wasn't pleased and threatened to resign as a moderator back then.

Anyway, no real point trying to figure him out. We've now all seen what he is like and how he acts. Probably best just to leave him alone now because something probably isn't 'quite right'.

I probably shouldn't keep going on about it myself since I have done enough arguing with him, for good reasons mind you, over the past few weeks. Now he has displayed his true colours for all to see I think I should probably leave it be. :)

Not true, but it was actually my birthday today. Did your card get lost in the post?

who can't get a job.

If you say so. So I wonder where I'll be tomorrow. It cannot possibly be at work, could it? Anyway what I do is nothing to do with you.

You abused every post I made !

I point out the inaccuracies and flaws in your misinformation.

Even on Afternic you were the same !

I've never been a member of Afternic.

Its people like you that brings this forum down

Of course! Which is why I hosted it for free for three weeks between the sale of it from Dan to GregR.

Its you with the PROBLEM and always has been !

Only problem I have is with you really. A lot of people seem to feel the same.

This will be my final post on here.

You've said that before and you're still here! But don't go. We love you really! ;)

And how I have so waited to say this !

Ding dong the witch is dead!

Well, Whois-search.com just got deleted from my favorites. I don't appreciate people who try resort to these kinds of tactics.

When you take on GregR, you might as well be taking on the whole domain community except for a very small few. We've all invested a great deal of time in this forum WS, so to try and sabatoge a main sponsor is not only going to be met with disdain for you personally, but you professionally.

Hmmm, I actually thought Whois-Search might have turned out to be something. Guess now you can have fun doing searches on your own site

btw: I'm not sure how old you are but David appears to be a lot older than you after reading this thread.

izopod.

p.s I do agree with others that a variety of sponsors be looked at, but I don't see anything wrong with Fabulous.com. Especially if it's going to help DNF. Domainers will click on the banners, and I urge them to do so!!
