I saw some Geo's for smaller towns available. Some smart moves for Geo related that were still available were like Chicagohomes etc.... Most of the city+realestate names were gone for any large destinations. I think city realty names go very well for a freebie address as local realtors might like the exposure.

Because this is so limited to what people can see if they are not in your circle of friends...although you can work with the settings to make the account not so private...I don't see too much of an application or reason for a company wanting to purchase an account with a good keyword.

I went with something I could see myself as in the future or something that an individual can easily market themselves, but why would anyone want to visit your URL that is not on your friends list. It is not exactly difficult to search for people on facebook in the first place.

I got facebook.com/greenconsultant

I figured...if I ever went into the green collar work..I'd at least like that.

i never thought to get "suggestion" as this a very high site related keyword.

specially when SEOs are targetting networking sites for promotion and suggestion links and tags, this keyword was an instantaneous try for me.

even for end-user, this will be a type-in try :)) (i think i just tooooooo optimistic)

Annoyed that I forgot the 'landrush' esp as it was at a reasonable hour (Sunday afternoon) in Australia so would have had a good chance to get a premium name.

Anyway in the end chose something that matches my profile better www.facebook.com/netfleet - please add me as a friend!

Hey, just a word of caution. Facebook is actively taking away your name if it doesn't reflect your "real name". I had registered, "Find Friends" last night. Today I received this email (keep in mind this is "Find Friends"---Not "Trademark Name":

Hi Greg,

The username you selected was removed for violating Facebook's policies. A Facebook username should have a clear connection to one's identity. In addition, impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited. If you see other people with usernames that do not accurately represent their real names, it is only because they have not yet been removed for misuse.

To select a new username, please visit the following link:

Thanks for your understanding,

Why is it a crime to register a "Vanity" Url on a Social Website? If I were Facebook, I wouldn't be too worried about "Find Friends". I'd be more interested in a TM name or one where someone was being impersonated. It's their loss. Most small businesses will stay with Twitter, and use Facebook to keep in touch with grandma.

Izo, The problem is that, the so called 'Social Networks' are not social at all. They pretty much control the ecosystem. You can be booted at any time, your efforts make them super rich and at the end of the day, you've made a few more worthless friends.

Any benefit you may have derived is fleeting and more likely never realize the ROI in time, which you may have squandered over.

Too many folks give some one else's success stories to justify their indulgence of time on these networks.

Back then, it was Myspace. 4 years from now, it will be something else.

Facebook will have to change, or like you said people will find something else. Quite frankly, I was only drawn to Facebook because they were allowing the chance to register a shortened user name. Why not. Now, I will simply stay with Twitter for all my branding needs (them and UStream). Feel friend to look me up sometime @entrepreneur on twitter and http://www.ustream.com/business on UStream.

What's my name on Facebook? Nothing. Will I promote this "profile" page. Hardly.

These networks have a huge opportunity to give users shares in the company, like Starbucks did. Myspace faded away. These networks will fade too. After the initial hype, uses get withdrawn when they see no monetary benefit. This happens so slow, it is worth the rebuke that I said it.

I did. Mine is @twitstore

The changes every one is speaking of have not gone unnoticed.

But, nevertheless, the need to connect and share has not.

And technology, faster speeds, wider coverage, and a growing number of users feeds this sector or internet usage.

I am seeing the strong need for this and an unprecedented usage and need.

One only needs to look at the current events in Iran and how news is getting out, shared, and spread to see the power.

The concept of social networking evolves into something else (another site, another popular catch word) as time goes on.

It is in many ways like all these video gaming consoles. They evolve and change and become dated but they retain a massive audience and market.

Well said.
