“My young kids can’t fathom life without the internet. People above the age of 30 realize what a profound change the internet has had on human lives,” -- Jason Teichman, SVP, Marketing & Product Management, Register.com

Did you know?

* The most popular words among .com URL’s today include “home” (1.2 million), “online” (1 million) and “land” (891,000).
* The domain name system is used more than 1 trillion times per day… so in 1 second that is more than 20 million times.
* Policy Impact Forum panelist and former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt said the .com domain has become a “common medium for humanity.”

Sometimes, I feel the need to signup on ebay with a fake name and bid on a name like that, just to make the guy happy a few days. May be to pull him to drop his day job or to divorce.... now that'd be fun.

Not to be a buzzkill... but any bid over $15,000 requires you to be a verified user.

But oh, how funny it would be to see him fighting a high $xxx, xxx final value fee :)

“Brian Alden bought the domain name job.com in 2001 from a person who had paid $500 for it.” -- Fredericksburg.com

Very nice.. 4 million type in Every month.. wow. Even if he paid 6 figures which I doubt. Because the guy who paid $500 would have probably sold for mid $X,XXX at the most. Its all about Vision. If
he had the Vision he would have sit on it because $500 is nothing to pay for that amazing world class top notch gigantic authoritative LOL 3 Letters 1 Word fabulous domain.

The problem now is, unless you have deep pockets it is very very hard to find high type in traffic domains for low prices. Although one can still make it big in this industry if willingness and the desire is there.
A lot of people won't become millionaires but some who have the vision and the right attitude and creative mind can def create a six figure income!

nice thread! Wonder if Bill Gates owns any good domains
for sure he doesn t have BillGates.com
a member here snaped it few years ago for $5Kand quit the day job and that is very very possible
.

Well it really doesn't matter even if he doesn't own it. The dude makes more money in a week than even Schilling and Ham make in a year probably combined.
So He can probably careless if he does own it or not.. The purpose of us DOMAINERS to own these domains is to make money from them and if he makes so much
then he probably doesn't need to worry or care about owning his name lol.. He does Own MicroSoft.com (domain +business) lol which is worth Over $250 BILLIONS LOL...

"I'm selling this domain name cuz I need money to fund another project" lmao

Well sometimes it really is true. I have done that a couple of times and the cash helped me fund the
project to create an affiliate site that make me money every month..

But forget me or other people , you need to watch the Video of John Reese, one of the most successful
Entrepreneur and Domain owner (has owned over 35000 domains) and Affiliate Marketer (who has made a Million $$$ in ONE day)
said once"he sold Ship.com for $1000 because he was broke and needed the money to fund his other projects and
that one decision alone made him a multi multi millionaire".

So paji some time people do really need that money to jump on an opportunity which can make them a lot more money eventually but if
they didn't have the cash they couldn't jump at it and make it happen... By the way check out the Video on http://bestdomainswebsite.com/video/reese.php

"The companies behind the 250 most visited U.S. websites are losing about $327 million per year through domains that contain typos of their brands, either because the domains are owned by third parties and used to divert would-be customers or because the brand itself is not using the domain properly"

".... I registered those domains below. They started getting traffic immediately. One I registered LAST NIGHT already has traffic. This may not be the best example as it may be time sensitive, but right now..........Out of 16 domains I registered on April 29, 11 already are making $$$ and the others are just a bit premature. So for the know nothings.....you still know nothing! But go right ahead and make a fool of yourself.

bpspill.com 255 visitors $12.55 earnings
oilspillingulf.com 132 visitors $11.80 earnings
gulfspill.com 165 and $14.95
bpoilspill.org 76 and $1.17
gulfoilleak.com 70 and $2.08
bpspill.com 244 and $12.55
bpspill.org 17 and .48
bpoilslick.com 1035 and $14.39
gulfcoastoilcleanup.com 15 and $3.99
gulfoilcleanup.com 40 and $6.33
gulfoilleak.com 72 and 2.08

bplivefeed.com 64 and .09 in first 36 hours
So the next time some MORON says there are no more type in domains, tell them the same thing I did in 1999. Tell them they are wrong, lazy, don't know what to look for and others will find them if you don't.."
