Yes you really should get one. That is the whole purpose of it tbh, reading without being in front of the computer. I spend enough time in front of a monitor as it is.

That sounds like a good idea. But for me it's not about money, but availability. The Kindle Fire isn't available over here yet, and that's what I was waiting for. However, if it's going to be much longer I will probably just get one of the others.

I don't mind reading at my computer, though, as it gives me a break from my writing or whatever else I'm doing. I read pretty much everywhere, and there are books around the house waiting for me to drop by at a particular location. I move from one to the other as if they were stepping-stones.

Good heavens, I don't see not having money as something to be ashamed of, so there was no implication to worry about.

No, it was just a statement of fact. I understand that the Kindle Fire allows you to see the book covers in colour, while on the normal Kindle they're black-and-white. Now that might seem like a trivial distinction to make, but it's just that having been a book-lover all my life the colour on the outside seems somehow a necessary part of the whole reading experience. If it were meant to be black-and-white, like an old movie, then that would lend to the enchantment. On the PC, of course, the book covers are in colour. Apart from that, although I don't know too much about it, I believe that there are other things about the Fire that make it more than an ebook. But perhaps I'm wrong about that.

And as a reformed bookworm, I just started reading again after like 10 years, thanks to Kindle. No, I am not using a "dedicated" Kindle either, which I never think is the way to go. Kindle Fire may be a step in the right direction, but the truth is, you could use Kindle apps on just any mobile platform (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry), and they are FREE.

Yes, there was a time when mobile screens were too small to read, but with with display getting larger by the day, I can now read comfortably on my Samsung Galaxy S II even without my reading glasses. More importantly, cell phones are already THE only device we need on the go, sending every point-and-shoot camera and music player (incl. iPod) to recycling, and there is no point carrying an extra piece just for reading.

Yes, Samsung Galaxy S III is the latest hype. With 9 million pre-orders before launch, it is going to be the fastest selling cell phone EVER (surpassing even iPhone 4S). S II is an older model. The LTE variant I'm using was actually released in November 2011. You may want to check out Samsung Galaxy Note too, which is said to be a cross-over between smartphone and tablet (at least size-wise). I have tried my hands on one a while back, a little too big for the pocket if you ask me.

And yes, you may download Kindle for Android free, which allows you to not only read and buy right from your smartphone or tablet, but also sync your bookmarks and notes across platforms (between your PC or Kindle).

So, if you're an ultimate reader, be kind to your own eyes and better choose an E Ink device. BTW it looks like the color version of E Ink, Triton, will come very soon to the Kindle eReaders.
