If godaddy no longer offers codes under $9 I will definitely be transferring away to other registrars when they have more offers like this.

Although I'd kinda sorta like to keep them to myself, I realize we'll all do better if we share what we know... so...

GoDaddy exiles should seriously consider NameSilo. That's where all my GoDaddy winnings go these days when the transfer lock is lifted.

Instead of $5 to $10 for privacy, it's included. Standard transfer in price is $8.39, charged right to the card. Renewals for most domainers will run $8.39 to $8.69 depending on volume.

I was initially afraid that because they were "the cheapest", they'd also be the worst. But nope. Most practical interface for dealing with lots of domains I'd used to far. I get responses to their support email often within minutes. Every single response has been articulate and smart.

I'm liking them even better than Enom recently, and they've been my rock the past few years. Impressive stuff.

Also, if you preload your account with money, you don't get 3% or anything "taken out" like you do at Enom. That always irked me.

I still use GoDaddy for auctions, but I hope this helps wannabe exiles looking to rehome.

I had so many to pay for, that I just joined the Domain Buyers Club again. It ended paying for itself straight away, because last week the best price on a renewal I could get was $9.92. No $8.99 coupon was around a few days ago.

A year of Domain Buyer's club is about $55 or so with a 35% off coupon. You get an additional 20% off if you get at least 3 years, so that's what I went for. I paid $140.38 after the 35% off coupon. (I used "WOWLEAD") About $3.88 per month, plus "free" subscription to auctions, and amazing sale prices on things like .co

It's a good fall back, anyway, when you can't find a better coupon.

Not anymore, too much bs with coupons lately, I guess they don't want anyone keeping their domains at godaddy anymore.
