Oh for the love of God!!! Google hasn't updated their search engine in 3 years, what the hell would they want with GoDaddy? Larry and Sergey, put the money down and take a f@ucking vacation! I wish I could innovate for 2 years, and then spend the rest of my life blocking progress, no one at the pub could top that.

Seraphim...

If only a couple people with balls and some resources would "get" the most valuable point made on this forum in all of 2007 (YOUR POINT).... The domain industry would control internet search and NOT Goggle!

Peace!

I am still convinced Google would rather have WiKipedia over GD if they had a choice.

They are in a position to make choices for people: $X,XXX,XXX,XXX and so on.

I'd like to add, the new GD chick is NOT hot..she's just OK

Agree, It kinda makes me wonder how she was chosen, Godaddy needs to hire the guy who recruits the Victoria Secret models or the Maxim models, now those girls are hot, not that I'm lesbian or anything, well you know what I mean.

Google would also buy Marchex if they were smart.

But I bet a lot of big companies like that would worry about public perception of owning so many domain names for direct type in purposes.

My beef with Google is twofold. First, I can't stand the stomach turning propaganda campaign that they are blanketing the internet with. It's essentially "until we fix the search spam problem, we're done with search". The truth is, like every monopoly, they suffer from "harvest the fields until the enemy are that gates" syndrome. They won't innovate now, because they don't have too. I know Google doesn't owe anyone anything as far as free traffic goes, but if you're going to meticulously organize all of the world's information into a fine tuned self serving money making machine, at least spare us all the "automated search results, democratic nonsense".

My second problem with Google, is that they are the mother of all PPC corruption on the internet. When the God of PPC isn't transparent, how can men on earth be expected to do the same [i.e. PPC companies]. No fixed rates, no fixed payout percentage, no right to audit clicks or income, no rights when your account is terminated, no rights to any confiscated earnings, no right to audit confiscated earnings, blanket confiscation policies [i.e. you're banned, now get lost], and so on. Frank Schilling is immune to all of this of course, but that's because his premium account matters, and yours does not [i.e. only the rich are afforded rights in this industry]. When will the government pick up it's cue and start taking a fine tooth comb to Google's policy of "we pay you enough to keep you from asking questions". Webmasters and domain owners deal with Google because it's worth it today to not ask questions. But then again, perhaps your $300 a day in PPC income, is actually $600 a day, but how the hell would you ever know the difference, and besides, $300 a day is a lot of money, right?

Anyways, life with Google is just going to get harder. As soon as I get the energy to switch all of my PPC to non Google feeds, I'm going out of my way to make sure Google isn't the recipient of a single penny of my web presence from then on out. Business isn't all, "do what you can get away with, until you can't anymore". There are some ethical responsibilities to consider here, even if you are the chosen ones, Larry, Sergey...

Godaddy will be sponsoring college football games on ESPN this fall--true it was announced today. The Saturday games will be introduced as "ESPN college football presented by Godaddy.com." Maybe Parsons will announce the games too. Sure would be better than their screwed up "cash parking" program they have.

Hi Larry,

well said...

Everything you posted is more than 100% true. I am sure glad someone else sees this and more. I thought I was going wacko.

They have a very chaotic way of organize things and almost every search result, gives you WiKipedia results...talk about democratic socialist political nonsense. And to top it off, they use ALL the assets of domain owners (domains & website content) and they get to use these assets for FREE. ( I know some domain and website get what they think is good perceived value from saying have a domain or website ranked high in their index...BUT... No matter what your making or not making from Google...your still getting way over screwed and are not being allowed to extract Maximum value out of your assets on a dalily and even basis.

Thanks for the post(s)

Peace!

Google has to drive visitors to it's own PPC ads, and I believe Wikipedia has become a cornerstone in increasing their CTR, and certainly so with commercial keywords. Everyone by now knows Wikipedia is non commerical, so with certain keywords I believe their presence is worthless [i.e. their high ranking for keywords such as jewelry, watch, mousepad, bracelet, necklace, anklet, etc.]. Statistics and my own personal experience show that most visitors don't make it past the first 3 search results, let alone the second page, they want a quick relevant link to click on. Google claims Wikipedia's strong ranking is stricly an automated and democratic product of their system. Do you believe the majority of users searching for "jewelry" are looking for an ameturish article about the history of the subject, or do you think they are looking for a product? If you believe the majority of users searching for "jewelry" are looking for a product, would it then at least be feasible to consider that Wikipedia's number 1 placement for the word would result in a higher probability of that user clicking one of Google's PPC ads? I can't prove any of this, but I know how effective the power of suggestion can be when properly applied to web based content.
