The auto suggest feature shoud be good for site owners and generic domain holders.
It will be bad for typo and tm domainers.

I have no problem with that.

Google rewards those who know how to game their system. Just having generics is not enough.

I doubt it will become widely used. Most people will just stick with IE that came with their PC. The only people that usually even bother to use alternate browsers are net savvy types like webmasters, etc.

If chrome really does steal 404 traffic though, that is going to have to change, via litigation or something similar. If i remove a page and want to redirect the people trying to access it, that is my traffic to do so with. A browser should play no part in that.

The brand new IE8 also does that

You have to play the ever changing Google SEO game. I haven't played in years so I don't know how to do it now.

Whats the % that uses foxfire? 10%.. if that?

Firefox as of last month had 18% of the market. Apple's Safari has another 6%.

No matter how much publicity Google gets, you still have to take into consideration that the majority of people with their current computers now - are NOT going to change browsers. It's just not reality. Techies and early adopters will...then regular people will slowly...when it's time to buy new computers, etc. And how is Google going to tackle that little, pesky problem that computers come pre-installed with IE??

Look at much PR Apple gets - you'd think their percentage would be MUCH higher. But 6%. Not a lot.

It looks like the site has no html to view under Firefox and robs the 404 under chrome. I think the only work around is Apache using custom 404s to keep the traffic on the site. I'll bet Dollars to Doughnuts that Google will be throwing their ad feed on the "
Oops! This link appears broken.
" page before the end of Q4.

I think the main lesson is, how a new phenomenon can come from nowhere over-night. This wasn't even on most peoples radar screens.

It is quite clear that Microsoft has lost its was, and its efforts to hang on to it users by supporting its back catalogue of bug ridden bloatware will eventually prove its achilles heel.

When the storm that is about to ravage the US economy has subsided. Yes, about to, cuz you ain't seen nothing yet. It will be clear to most that there is bigger World out there and the Internet is not just about MS and Google. Maybe Google and the Rest of the World, but it will be a whole new era. The English only dot com philosophy will have died a death. FS will have realised that there is no such thing as global anchor site, the whole Traffics scene will have just about fallen apart, and domainers will be focused on where the money is and where it is going to come from in the future. Could be dot Mobi, but I very much doubt it. You have more chance of seeing Bido as the number one domain outlet :)

Interesting discussion, Chrome has a lot to prove though, marketing has to work big time.
