Look Johnn, Im telling you that Aaron sent me an email to [email protected], which is my government email address. This email WAS from microsoft.com.

So unless Microsoft hands out free email addresses, this is the real guy. I am not at work right now, but I could send you a screenshot of the email.

I worked at Microsoft (Redmond WA) as a contractor a few years ago, and YES, I did have an @microsoft.com email address and ID card.

I dont know whats you guys problem with Microsoft?

I am pretty sure, if people can confirm his Email Address etc, that this is Microsoft.

When I wrote with the Domain Department of Microsoft, i got instantly an answer from them, i got 2 Mails between 10 hours, which is not bad at all, and there was no footer, or signature or whatever from them... just a regular "hi how are you email"....but thats ok..

I guess you guys looked too much into the "hoax-mails" ;)

are you turning this to a i hate denny thready again? plz give it some rest..

I'm sorry, can you show me where I have identified that particular member in this thread or any other post? Perhaps what should be given a rest is how so many just look the other way when people behave illegally and unethically around here because somehow they believe the domain industry is not subject to reality.

I don't hate members - I am simply amazed that anyone would trust to do business with some of the people here who disregard laws and participate in unethical practices or condone that behavior.

It's not a dilemma at all really. I run a business, register trademarks and protect the intellectual property of my own company particularly against domain holders. These forums and others have provided me with a deep knowledge of how to connect the dots to track down domain registrants, persuade domain registrars to take action, have hosting companies shut down accounts and more.

Removing those who only hurt legitimate business operators in the domain industry would be a better suggestion.

I understand where you are coming from, again not wanting to sound like I support TM's and typo's. I own non.

My point is in a forum that is set up FOR domainers and where typo's and potential TM's abound and is generally accepted as a part of business, do you invite such individuals to be a part of your community ? If infact you do and feel that " cleaning up " the industry of typo/TM infringers is best, remove the exclusive section altogether. NOTHING sghould be private because we should have nothing to hide. In my book someone goe ALL the way or not at all. Adam having TM sales removed was a step, I agree with and support. It is a fine line to tread, these are the realities of our community.

Perhaps Microsoft can create a bounty program, to pay up to $10 (or some other number) to find TM-infringing domains that they don't already know about. That's more cost-effective than paying $300/hr lawyers.

Although, given their Typo Patrol project, they likely know a good portion of them.

If that is the case then:

Welcome to DNF and make sure you read the rules before posting like any other members. There is no exception as the Mods here threat everyone equally.

I feel dirty reading this thread - it's like being back in high school standing around with all your friends gawking at the new kid. Rumors and supposition are the order of the day...

New kid - say something - everyone is looking at you.

Thanks DCG. Delighted to be here. Was waiting to post until verified in order to clear up any uncertainty.

A (typical) busy day here, and I will have an opportunity to post more over the weekend. Many thanks to all for the welcomes.

Thanks.

Actually, although I don't practice IP, I think it is pretty darn smart openly joining a forum such as this. For the most part, this is where such domains are bought and sold. This will ultimately have a chilling affect not only here but on other forums, thereby eliminating much of the secondary sales of such names. Coupled with actions bought in federal court rather that the usual UDRP, the Microsoft TM enforcement program should be quite effective...

I've tried to buy domains FROM microsoft before that they aren't even using, but haven't had much success even with nice 5 figure offers. Maybe you can now negotiate some on MS's behalf for names you no longer need?
