Yes, or +44 should work. so if the number is: 0044 020 ----- you could dial

004420----- or +4420 -----

I know who you are trying to reach ;).
They will renew and hold those names if they notice the expiration.

lol... dial 011 44 .......

It's like when you see "Press any key to continue", you ask "where the heck is ANY KEY?!!"

ok- i dial the first 00
then, i cant dial any further because the operator comes on-

this is driving me nuts- obviously i am missing a key element here that is causing my brain to have this enormous brain fart-
but how am i supposed to dial the number starting with 2 zeros if i can not get past the operator- who i keep hanging up on-
am i supposed to talk to her? cant i just dial someone in the uk?

Dial 011 44 044 1234567

replace 1234567 with the 7 digit number that you have

The international prefix is 00 in most countries, but in the U.S. it's 011.
That's why + is usually used as a placeholder.

where the heck is there a plus sign on a phone?
+ will work fine on most newer phones, particularly cell phones, and it's often located at the bottom left if I am not mistaken. if it doesn't work, simply replace it with your local international prefix.
