Sleep is essential to life. I'm just not near as productive unless I've gotten a good sleep. Lack of sleep also makes you age faster. I need a good 7-8 or so.

Maybe you should try that new pill they have out that tricks your brain into thinking you are sleeping. It is your brain that needs sleep, not your body.

It's weird how you sometimes find ideas very easy to accomplish when you're in bed at night. Here the other day I was planning to convert ehot.net into a fully featured auction service like Sedo.com and I had everything lined up .. Of course, when I woke up I couldn't even bother thinking about it.

I also get up in the middle of the night and check out DNF (iSpy of course) and sometimes break.com etc. :) I don't really worry much about sleep though, as I believe you can function just fine if you just force yourself. If you sleep poorly for a couple of days you will eventually find a night to sleep out and get all recovered..

Same here.... But I never heard lack of sleep makes you age faster :?: is that really true?

I get about 5 to 6 hrs of sleep before taking my kids to school, then I go back to sleep for a few more hours , so I average about 8-9 hrs.

I am a very light sleeper and it usually takes 1-2 hours for me to fall asleep. I got like 1000 things on my mind when I go to bed at night, not necessary negative stuff, but it just makes it very hard to sleep. :)

Sounds to me like your stressing... Do you sleep alone? If you dont have someone to cuddle up next to, it's understandable that your mind would wonder.

sleep, what is sleep. To much to do and not enough time to do it. Especially working with developers and partners in different time zones.

1. 3-4 days of the week I sleep 2-3 hours if lucky that day.
2. 1 - 2 days of the week I maybe get 1 hour +/-
3. At least one day out of the week I wont sleep at all and just keep working

Possibly every 3 weeks +/-a day, I may have one night of full rest of between 6 - 8 hours if I am lucky or my wife makes me feel guilty enough.

I just tell her if we sacrifice now in 10 years we will retire at 43...lol!

Nope, I sleep next to my girlfriend, but I sleep so turbulent and if someone has their arm around me I can't sleep at all. I need lots of space in bed, as I can't lay still for 5 seconds at a time. :) I got that after my father I think, he also has trouble sleeping.

I can manage fine with 5-6 hours in the weekdays and I usually try to get 7-8 hours in the weekends. So let's discuss how many hours you sleep per night and how many hours you need in order to function properly. :)

Depends on with whom

My sleeping habits are very very erratic

On most days, I sleep around 4 am, and get up between 8-10 am. I catch some sleep in the afternoon if I can.
Sometimes I can't go to sleep at all and will be up until 9 am. And some other days, I'll sleep at 12 am. I think this entire sleep cycle is playing havoc with my body, really, and I've been trying to get a bit more disciplined about it.

Somedays I'll sleep just for 5 hours, others when I won't feel like getting up even after 10 hours.

I find it hard to go to sleep. Usually have a lot of things going around in my mind (nothing negative, just random thoughts). Considering that I'm just 21, I sometimes get worried - if my sleeping habits at 21 are this bad, how bad are they gonna be when I'm 50?

Approaching 50 and normally sleep about 7 hours - 11 pm to 6 am

Sometimes have a siesta after lunch - rest not sleep. I just can't get to sleep during the day.
