Daddy,

We have a portfolio of about 2,000 IDN of which about half are Chinese, but we also have substantial amounts of Japanese including single character Hirigana (Those are the swiggley one's). We only register dot coms and dot nets and these generally are the same cost as other dot coms and dot nets, therefore generally around $7 each. Our sales are therefore yielding about 10,000%. Obviously, the more time we renew the greater the costs, but we expect selling prices to rise ever faster if and when the whole thing gets going properly.

Best Regards

I am glad you had some successful sales.

However, a few winners doesn't mean the overall business yielded 10,000%.

2000 X $7 = $14,000 cost/ recurring

How much have you grossed from all IDN sales? How much do you expect to come in?

Absolutely Agree. The smart thing would be to not sell anything, but real business are about things like cash-flow etc.

In terms of renewals, we have significant traffic on many of these domains and we are confident that this traffic will be exploitable. Sedo are going to launch a service for Chinese and other IDN with advertising in the local languages. Many of our domains are already getting good keyword searches in the extended Unicode characters at Overture.

I would guess that on cash-flow we will stil be negative this year, as I will be reluctant to sell domains too cheaply. We are prepared fund for 3 years or so, before pulling the carpet from under the project, but I do not feel that will be necessary.

Fortunately, I have other enterprises on the go so this does not need to be self financing, as long as the light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting nearer.

If IE7.0 comes and goes and we are unable to generate traffic revenues or significant sales the operation will eventually need to be scaled down. I do, however, believe that successful entrepeneur plough their own furrow. Me toos sometimes make some money, but rarely make fortunes.

Best Regards
