Anyone who tells you they get 100s of type-ins to their .mobi is lying.

If iphones.mobi gets 2 uniques a day from 2 .mobi domainers then no one paying these ridiculous prices at Sedo will ever get their money back unless they find a bigger sucker.

That's exactly where I'm at. At nickel a week I'd be long dead before recovering my .mobi investment. :)

Remind me to put something in the poor box for you this Sunday.

I think many have cautioned previously that these are not about parking. These are about developing.

I can not and will not speak for others, but some are making several hundred dollars a month and perhaps thousands with their sites.

Do I have proof that what they say is true? No. But I know their sites and how exceptionally popular they are.

Do I have proof if someone tells me they are making $200 a day on a .com site? No. They can provide proof. But I am always suspicious. I know how to forward thousands of domains to one URL in about 3 step process.

You can speak for yourself. Has development of any of your .mobis resulted in an appreciable amount of revenue?

Explanation, if you please:

I only have three active .mobi sites. Two in this account.

This is AdMob.com, a site that provides mobile advertising.

Can be a pain in the butt. New ads are added constantly and I have not checked this account lately. When I logged in, there were 677 different ads "approved" for these two.

Problem is, they are auto approved. Foreign language, ones that pay a penny, etc.

Nearly impossible to keep cleaned up.

The account would only let me go back to July 1.

The 15,966 is the number of times the ads have appeared.

The value of this is in actual usage. I have had numerous people tell me how crazy they are with the surfing reports on SDCA.mobi.

Naturally, these are becoming branded. That will be the ultimate value.

I would like this to become so popular in the San Diego area to sell ad space my self to the advertisers in that area. Others are doing it.

AdMob sucks. I had someone contact me yesterday that Google has released its adsense for mobile and already it is kicking AdMobs ass on his site in just one day.

The google Adsense for mobile is formatted for mobile devices.

If iphones.mobi is for sale I can offer $15 ( good for 24 hrs ) .
stick around and you may learn something.

Admob does not have mobile compliant ads. They let anyone advertise and perhaps 95% of the time takes you to a full blown .com site which is not cool. Therefore, very little conversion.

Google is doing it better and contextual ads. Ones made for mobile devices.

The builder of my sites has been in contact with me regarding this and is exceptionally happy with the Adsense release. Plus, none of my sites have ever actually been optimized for ranking on Google.

Greg rrrrrrrr Fearless...THIS IS 100% natural type in traffic. Word of mouth.

Once we get meta tags inserted for optimizing I would expect a big jump not only in traffic, but relevant ads with Adsense

Nothing here is earth shattering, but neither has Admob.

RE: Parking your domains. What do you get. 5 - 10 options, many non relevant. And where does each ad take you? The full blown website. Again, not cool if you are on a phone.

So, add metatags, add Google AdSense for mobile, and then we'll see.

In regards to SDCA.mobi, if someone is checking surfing conditions along the Cal coast, they are going straight to that page and not clicking on squat.

I am trying to find something that shows who, what, where, when and what device is being used. In other words, even the 15K+ usage is not the total amount of users.

Hey, I'm learning to.

En-route is great for traffic conditions and road reports and weather no matter where you are.

It is all about relevancy to the market and making it useful. Some names are indeed not suitable for .mobi. Hell, some aren't suitable in any extension.

Kind of what you're doing. Running you mouth. In this case, more appropriately your fingers.

I simply asked who's mouth, thought you might say you have had TV/Radio or media time of some sort etc. No need to get rude.

I don't see why iphones.mobi would get a good amount of type-ins in the first place. Shouldn't have been surprising at all.

It's the best and most famous cellphone of all time! Shouldn't that translate to huge traffic on the best and most famous cellphone domain name platform?
