I just spoke to a guy who is a reseller for regfly, he has over 2,000 domains in total over 240 resold accounts.. he has gone into hiding as people are calling him with death threats..

That truly does suck, for lack of a better word.
I knew this was coming.
That why I never even considered their reseller scheme. When you think of it lives are going to be destroyed (literally) because of regfly/icann ineptitude.
Praying won't help but ... amen.

Tell that guy to hunt down the personal information for each employee of ICANN, and post their work and HOME contact information since they are the "certifying organization". Let them and their families deal with the death threats for their own incompetence.

What will happen to the domain names if regfly does become the next Enron?

The site is back online and I haven't tried it yet but apparently they fixed one of the biggest gripes which was the bulk edit tool. I guess all of us hanging in the balance can celebrate with a $9000 escort. Where's Domain Newbie aka Angel at?

Yeah, credit card fraud is definitely a reality with them. Charged my card for renewals last June and never renewed the names. That sucked. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that payment.

Enom did have a lot to do with it. Registerfly didint pay them for renewals!
Registerfly decided to go out on their own. Why would enom foot the bill for the renewals? They wouldnt and I dont blame them for that.

Yesterday, registerflys security certificate expired. Their site was down for an extended period of time. That is not someone I want my domains registered with.

I blame icann but that is absolutely no excuse. It is not their fault that registerfly screwed many of their customers including a lot of members of this forum. ICANN does nothing to oversee accredited registrars but we all know that and that knowledge means that if we are foolish enough to use a shitty registrar then we need to understand there will be consequences.

For me I was one of the lucky ones. I ahd a bad experience with registerfly years ago and moved maybe 50 names out. The stragglers were domains I bought from someone in a bulk purchase and fortunately I moved most of those out as well. The ones which were still there were lost except for 1 whcih I was able to save.

JMJ around the same time you were able to renew yours I was trying to renew mine. I paid and received a message that it was at enom and that it would be in my account in a few days. It also showed registerflys contact info in the whois but was showing enom as the registrar. I also had to pay something like $16 for the renewal.

I don't think you will find many who think this is anyones fault but registerflys. Their own internal papers prove that there was misappropriation of funds.
Enom in my eyes is completely clean on this deal. Registerfly couldnt pay for the renewals so enom didnt renew.
I do think enom could have done more with regard to setting up some special pricing for renewals maybe at their cost or something but that is their decision to make.

I need to know one thing. Why do you have so many names at registerfly knowing how many people have had issues with them? Was it from years ago and you just didnt want to move them? Just curious.
In terms of their current customers who havent lost names. I am sure everything will be fine. If it gets worse another registrar will probably move in and take over.

As I said I've had my problems in the past but Paul usually took care of them rather quickly for me and in one case fulfilled a bulk purchase and credited my account for compensation. He also explained to me and has on a number of forums the move issues from eNom to their own. From what I understand when the eNom names expired they had to be manually renewed at eNom and placed back into their system. Which would explain your situation and also may suggest some sort of combativeness on eNom's end. In addition to them trying to transfer those names over to their new system behind the scenes which gave me an understanding of the large task they were undertaking. I find it too coincidental that the names were lost when the eNom relationship time was up. $100,000 in frivolous spending from one person in the company over a period of time shouldn't bring a 1.5 million+ a month company (taking a low guess here but I would imagine their billing was much more) to it's knees.

I've known about and worked my way around the kinks in their system. Billing for example. You don't have problems when you deposit the funds and then do whatever it was you intended to do. I guess it's been a lot of trial and error. I have issues with a lot of registrars. Godaddy which is a lot of peoples favorite I absolutely despise. So to each his own. What I and I would guess everyone else didn't know is the partnership problems.

Did anyone think for a second that that's data we're talking about, that is - chunks of numbers in a spreadsheet or database? Not tangible goods, not even money or apples. When I'm told "this can't be done" when dealing with changes in a database nowadays, I remember the days when I would sit on my sore ass coding in FORTRAN or COBOL fixing the most minute elements of a program until it behaved exactly as needed. Programmers and DBA's these days are overpaid, LAZY S.O.B's with little incentive to customize things.

I had some strange scenario happen to a friend of mine at school. He had a trojan horse on a floppy drive with him at school, and he told one of his friends. The floppy was in his pocket all day, and his friend ratted him out.

No damage was done to the computer(s) and/or the network; yet the tech director made up charges. He wound up settling with the district and can not touch any of the school's computers to date.

Could there be some similarity?

That depends, did he pilfer thousands of dollars from the school and used it on liposuction and hookers? if not then no similarity.

What I mean is...is there not the possibility that the charges are exaggerated? Note that I personally wish that this scum of the earth would just go live in Mexico and never be heard from again...I am not taking his side.

hell yeah, but not by much. That is the beauty of the internet. You can turn a minor indiscretion in to a Monica Lewinsky Gate.

Fuel the fire, grab your torches and pitch forks, we are gonna have us a good old fasion witch hunt.

On a personal note, the guy is a gimp and I love him as much as Bob Parsons. :upset: (and bob knows how I feel about him)

Are you suggesting good ole Bob's boobmania beauties (also known as Superbowl Smut Servants) were paid from the GoDaddy 'escort fund'? :D

I'm sure the whole deal could have been easily solved. These registrars have no problem putting names into extended redemption status, manipulating dates, etc when it serves themselves. But if I had to guess eNom wasn't very happy about regfly parting ways so they made the process as difficult on them as could be. Mabey even difficult enough to make it virtually impossible. I couldn't imagine having to transfer million + names within a year all at various times. Hell I would say f*ck it to and go have a hooker. At $9g's though he's either one really ugly guy or that stuff is made of gold. For that much she'd have to be my full time sexatary and thats months of pay..haha Either way there's more to this than Lipo's and Hoe's I would guess.

Domains missing from your account are a common occurence with regfly.
You need to do your own record-keeping. If you contact support they should be able to fix this (select ticket subject in combo: domain missing from account). If there is still support of course.
