01Dec07 update: 2972 left.

The Directi sale of .IN for less than $4 for the first year has taken a large chunk out of the LLL.in population.

We had over 6000 LLL.in left three days ago. My scan today showed 5015 LLL.in. As the sale continues through December 31, 2007, it's becoming increasingly likely that a buyout will occur --- though it probably will only last one year (when renewals at the normal, higher rate are due).

Combinations including the letters:
ABCDEFGHILMNOPRST have been completely regged since March 2007. (min reseller price seems to be $25-$30 for these).
ABCDEFGHIKLMNOPRSTU have been completely regged as of a few days ago (17Oct07).

I would appreciate updates from anyone scanning LLL.in or those with other news. I'll plan to update the thread with the latest numbers too.

Here's a listing of the LLL.in currently unregistered:
www.uweb.ucsb.edu/~glennon/domains/21oct07LLLin.txt

It'll be interesting to see how things go -- and where the LLL.in price stabilizes. In any case, it looks like Directi will emerge as a major player in the Indian domain market.

Though the .in cctld registry is fairly liberal, I would highly-recommend that domainers carefully research and plan before investing in .in. If you do not have a plan, you will lose money!

I think a scan from just two weeks ago turned up north of 7k left, so that is a sizeable number in just a few weeks. I'd say its almost certain the remainder get taken out while the sale is on. However, the true test as you say will be this time next year when renewals come around.

I also think the price of LLL.in's is going to be supressed over the next year regardless - going to be too much supply overhang until the names get shaken out into stronger hands.

Currently, you will need to supply your own software solution for that. Several other domain forums have vibrant .in communities. Sometimes upcoming LLL.in expirations are posted on those forums, but overall, since there is large competition for all-premium-letter drops, drop information is shared less and less often.

I would imagine its only a matter of time before someone creates a drop catch service for .in - overdue if you ask me

I've tried scanning those with DRT, but it's totally unreliable.
Many domains showing as available are in fact registered long time ago.

Yeah, DRT in general has been very unreliable even for .com names lately.

LLL.in are now 90% registered (1740 left unregistered as of 1 January 2008). Note: Almost all are held by domainers. Actually, a quasi-random scan of 30 domains yields something closer to 60% held by domainers.
