It's so comical and yet so sad ... he's listed it with DotComFinders.com - never heard of them ... and their brokerage fee is way out there along with many other things on their site. What was he smoking ... wait, I think I've smoked that too LOL!

Thank you for the correction ... I was under the impresson they were accepting offers of $1.5 Million in hopes of getting around $8 Million ... I didn't realize they actually had a reserve set on marijuana.com of $10 Million.

In regards to who would buy it ... well, I won't go into much detail, since Rick thinks he knows it all, but I'm quite certain as to who won't, based on my experiences running a popular marijuana related site ... the hemp industry wants nothing to do with "marijuana"; medical marijuana suppliers are mostly non-profits/small operations - they don't have millions laying around ... and even if they did, why buy something so generic when so many better alternative domains exist; bio-fuels related companies, much like the hemp industry, don't want to be associated with "marijuana"; music entertainment industry is generally cheap and thus I seriously doubt they'd even pay a $100K for it - what would they do with it, even if they did buy it, being they often go out of their way to delete marijuana references in music videos, etc.

There are many, many spellings and they don't own most of them ... that can be a big problem for domains that people often type in wrong.

marihuana * common correct spelling

marijana * appears to be the most common misspelling from what I can tell - 58 overture with .com ext score; ironically marijuana.com has no overture score. Also appears to be a person's name in some Eastern European countries.

Other variations are marijauna, mariuana, mariana (is a name), mariwanna, marijuanna etc.

The U.S. government is cheap ... govt agencies generally don't buy domains aftermarket - and anyways, if the govt had any interest at all in "marijuana.com", they'd have marjuana.gov registered - last I checked, it's *not* registered to any govt agency.

Heck, I owned drugabuse.com for 5 years and *never* once did the U.S. govt ever express any interest in acquiring it despite already having drugabuse.gov active; yes, people do mix up the .gov with the .com - yet the govt never once expressed any interest ... U.S. govt is cheap as I said :-/

In regards to the information contained on marijuana.com - not of any value, quite really to the govt for one.

Secondly, if there's information a particular govt agency needs, they'll often turn to informants (anyone can be one) and/or other methods first long before ever considering buying anything. If a resource, such as the internet domain name system, is truly valueable to the U.S. govt, they'll often acquire/control it in a round about way - do some googling on SAIC - and that's only one example.
