I change DNS setting often to test different monetization strategies. Somtimes it takes GD up to 4 hours to resolve the new settings change. At Moniker it takes maybe 5 minutes. GD's control does look great, but it's too slow if you need to crank out a lot of changes, just as Chris pointed out.
I have had GD take a day or more. I think it just depends on the server and how loaded they are.

Most of my issues come with TDNAM, which is GoDaddy. Selling expired domain names that were not expired and NOT even registered to GoDaddy. Then all the subsequent bullshit stories that followed and lies until they were finally nailed by numerous folks on this and other forums as well as the owner of the domain names sold.

Right now I am about half and half with my domains - half at GD and half at moniker. As they come up for renewal, I am sending them to moniker.

Plus all new regs I put in Moniker accounts.

I'm right there with you Doc. When I started domaining, I used GoDaddy exclusively, I didn't move to Moniker until I wised up. Now I'm split 50/50 between the two. The TDNAM horror stories also raised some concern with me. They also yank websites if the content doesn't conform to their TOS, and I know for a fact that they have frozen domains without going through due process first. Judge, jury, and executioner, can't feel safe with that policy.

I will admit it did take me a little time to get used to Moniker's control panel, and I didn't like it at first. But once I got used to it, I find I can breeze though settings changes.

Do not move to Godaddy. Move somewhere with live chat support as you are in the UK., And still good service. I like Dotster.

Godaddy is awful. They freeze domains, slow support responses, tempremental control panel, administrative fees for every stupid little thing. They even charged me a $50 administrative fee on 'principal' as opposed to it being deserved.
They also have a tendency to make random, large charges on your credit cards without consent.
Stay away. Seriously

sure, but only if you are an idiot.

i will look into moniker after reading the feedbacks... but with the comment made above, i dont find this fair. Calling other members an idiot is not right.

Batman, contact Monte for the premium rate. Also ask him to change your deletion fee to 0.25. You have to ask, otherwise you won't get it. Their prices are lower than GoDaddy's.

Monte is the Moniker Owner. His member name is MonikerMan.

>>> http://www.dnforum.com/member-monikerman.html

Thank You

I emailed Monte and asked,

Security issues are being rased by members that godaddy is not safe, how
safe is your system.. if my domain is stolen, does your company help get
it back? if your system fails to protect it ......

I will wait for his response......
if Moniker provides more protection and gurantees to get your domain back... then their is no argumnet about it... I will choose Moniker...

If a company is responsible for your domain being stolen, due to their system being hacked... then they are responsible for the damage... in GD case, it seems they are not accepting that they are at fault from the horror stories I just finished reading.... unless the horror stories are missing information... if your domains are stolen from someone else having access to your username and password, then that is not GD problem... that is your problem... if you can't protect your security information a secret.... then you oviously are careless about it and guranteed to lose your assets!

I'm a bit confused about the cases i read, one claims QUOTE...

Godaddy just gave away one our most valuable domains http://www.3pd.com. All the culprit had to do was hack our account at godaddy and out of nearly 500 domains we thought were safe, he picked just one. Perhaps he was just testing the waters and intends to come back for all of them now that he knows how easy it was. Godaddy’s response was “tough luck go to ICANN”.

I dont get it, why would anyone hack into GD and try to only steal one domain!?!? If this haker did HACK into GD database.. then why steal 3pd_com ?

This individual and others like him all have similar claims, hacker cracked into their account and stole their domain.

I dont work for GD, but it seems that these horror stories all have one connection!!!!!! Their all careless or fake...

if your friend, dude at work or someone from school, etc gets access to your computer and steals your username, etc... then that my friend is CARELESS

Batman,

All members here get deep discounts on regs, renewals, transfers.

Look at the MONIKER link on this forum and post you request there.

Monte is one of the few CEO's that takes pride in his business and will contact you personally if there is an issue. He is a member here and on most forums.

The TDNAM horror stories also raised some concern with me. They also yank websites if the content doesn't conform to their TOS, and I know for a fact that they have frozen domains without going through due process first. Judge, jury, and executioner, can't feel safe with that policy.
Sechlist.org comes to mind.

TDNAM is a farce in domaining auctions. Talk about hype. I have seen some of my own dropped domains appear with highly inflated traffic numbers. Must be nice to be able to pump up the dump and have a never ending, inexhaustible supply of domains that you can recycle to unsuspecting buyers.

I used to do well in sales when they first started out but now they put so many damn icons on their own junk to draw attention to their own drops that legitimately good domains for sale are often over looked.

Really? Complete opposite experience for me. Never had a problem with GD and I think their interface is one of the best in the industry.

Same here. So far it's been smooth sailing with GoDaddy.

I love Moniker and move my bought names there. For new regs, I use Dynadot. You can't go wrong with no fee tasting :)

Although I've never had a security problem, from what I've heard, Moniker is the best of the bunch. Never had a name stolen. The fact that Monte was/is a domainer gives him valuable insight into the domaining business and security, as compared to Pimp Daddy Parsons.

One thing though: Moniker has really terrible support. Email will never work, and calling them doesn't sort things out either.
