Hello guys,

If I list a domain for sale on Sedo or Godaddy with an Asking price and then I get an offer equal to the Asking price, I have to sell the domain? Or...? Will Sedo or Godaddy ban my account if I don't want to sell?

Any answer will be appreciated.

As for Sedo, if you set an asking price (fixed price) and you get a buyer, you sell at that price. If not, then yes...it is a great way to get your account canceled and banned from Sedo.

TDNAM/GoDaddy is most likely the same way.

Usually if you don't follow up with a sale at a fixed price at Sedo, what they do is ban your account. Then, an ICBM is pinpointed to your exact location and launching occurs in 24 hours. Upon your physical termination the bill is sent to your family. In other words, don't fudge with Sedo :D

Never managed to get a domain at sedo when I've agreed the fixed price. I guess it's not enforced.

The asking price is not the same as a fixed price.

Asking price means just that, how much you're expecting for the domain. You can also set a minimum offer price like $800, so offers below that threshold may not be submitted. Not a very useful option imho but it's available.

To sum up you have two options at Sedo:
  • fixed price, take it or leave it. If somebody buys you must sell at the listed price.
  • no firm price, open to negotiations. Anything goes.

If it is an asking price you do not have to sell. I have made an offer equal to the sellers asking price only to have them counter offer with a price ten times as much.

Thanks katherine , now I think I really understand this. The asking price is not the same as a fixed price. We can even make a counter offer which is higher than our asking price. And, I think we must sell at the fixed price we set, or we'll be punished by Sedo and Godaddy.
