I received this email today.... I have asked for a contact number so i may speak with him. Will let you know what happens.

-=DCG=-

---------------------------------------------------

Dear sir,

My brother helped run the domain forum for about a year. His screen name was "namepopper". He loved the domain community, and all the people there. He believed so strongly in that community, and was so proud of the forum.

I need to tell all his domain friends at the forums, that Nick passed away, but that he loved them. I don't know them, and was never involved in the community myself. I haven't known how, or where to let people know what happened. I am having trouble accepting what happened, and I am still unable to talk about it.

This is a very hard time for our family, and I really don't feel like
talking about it, but I need to do this. I just need to post a simple statement from our family. I don't want to talk to anybody, and I don't want to be a distraction to the community. I just need to let people know what happened to him, and that he loved them, and loved the forum.

Can you please arrange a temporary account for me, so that I can leave a message for his friends.

Thank you,
Tim

Would like to hear of some verification to establish that this is not just another hoax message.

It is sad. I'm assuming it's true and not lettting the conspiracy theorist that hides in me rear his ugly head. If it is true I'm sad for his family and glad to put some closure to Nick's disapearance. If it's not, well the letter's author has problems and I feel sorry for him.

Thanks DCG.

Nick was a friend. He's definitely missed.

My condolence goes out to his friends and family.

I'm going to be up front here. I am not buying it AT ALL...

He had way to many names with various alias', and wrong phone numbers.

I truly believe "he" is still trolling this board. Key on a "newbie" posts.

He could still have existed but was using an alias. That is not so unusual, the email never said his brother was Nick Master.

"He" never existed Adam.

One thing you may want to do is go through various posts of "his", check the names he was selling, and you'll see a pattern.

I'll admit this person was a very good member, but wasn't upfront for whatever reason.

this is the first i have heard of any of this

for any new members out there - nic was one of the most respected mods early in dnforums life - if this is true then i send my condolences to his family - i traded domains with him a few times and was very professional and always polite - and when things kicked off in dnforum - which they used to a lot - he used to calm every situtation down - he was like kevin spacey in the negotiator!

i dont know what has been happening recently as ive been away a while - i dont know why everyone is saying he wasnt upfront - thats news to me

Well, I am sorry to say this but I am going to have to say the letter was the truth. Either that or Nick himself wrote the letter. I just looked up a name namepopper had for sale in this forum, the whois still had his name listed. I emailed the address inquiring about the name, if it was for sale ect... This is the response I just received only a few minutes later.

---------------------------------------------------
Sir, yes I own that name. It was originally purchased
by my brother, who passed away a couple months ago.
I am still sorting out a lot of his affairs, and this
is a very hard time for our family.

I will gladly sell the name, as we could use some extra
money right now. What do you feel is a fair price?

Well... If you think this is proof "Nick Master" passed away, and his brother is now taking care of his names for him, then that's all the proof you need.

As for me, I am still not buying it. How strange it is that his brother managed to "save" hostco.us but not "Namepopper.com".

Come on people... Nick Master never existed, there is absolutely no way (other than a link to an obit) to verify he passed away, or that this is his brother. Oh, and knowing his "real" name would help to. I wonder if his brother can produce that info.

I would suggest for the benefit of the community we let this "past history" ride off in to the sunset.

here is an email i just received.

Dear sir, a friend of Nick's has just wrote me from the forum,
and told me what you and others were saying.

Let me get a few things straight.

The reason I am answering emails quickly is because I am in the
middle of answering a lot of them that are coming in since the
owner apparently posted my first one. They are all forwarded
to the same mailbox, which pops up live as soon as they come in.
This is the first time that answering an email quickly has ever
been considered a bad thing. Very strange.

I was also informed that somebody named izopro said it was strange
that I would keep hostco.us and not namepopper.com

For God's sake, check the damn registration dates. I did not KEEP
hostco.us and decide NOT to keep namepopper.com. Namepopper.com
expired, and hostco.us just hasn't expired yet. I did not renew
or decide to KEEP it. It expires in a couple months.

So tell izopro his logic is totally wrong.

For that matter, most of my brothers old names have expired. There are
only a few that I decided to renew, if they appeared to be obviously
worth something.

I can't believe anybody is tarnishing my brother's name. He never did
anything bad to anybody, and gave everything he had to that place and
those people. He left this world owing nobody anything.

This is very hurtful.

By the way, The ONLY thing he EVER did was not list his phone number.
He didn't give a fake number. He just put 5555555 or 0000000.

This was strictly for privacy, and because we had recieved
many crank calls, even threats, when he would reject offers
for certain names. There are a lot of nuts in the world.

For God's sake, that's the VERY reason that some registration
companies now offer a service to hide your personal info.

Tell mr izopro that!!!

Goodbye.

I'm just sad I didn't get to know him more. :-(
