Names that I used to get for $25 at Namewinner were going for $40 to $250 today. Good names went up to $2000. At those prices, it is generally not worth it. I am glad that you see the light Stuff. Paying too much in the start is a sure way of failing in this business, especially for novices, who may not have a good idea of which names have real commercial value.

Of course, you are free to keep posting this info in exchange for DNF $, if you think that it is worth it. Personally, I would never do what you are doing, i.e. widely disseminating this info. I think you should keep it to yourself. Please think about this before you post any more of these lists.

I think there was a screwup at Namewinner. I keep finding more names all at 2002. Maybe someone is messing with their bid system.

What he said.

Posting this stuff ****s the people who put the work in finding the good names, and gives the lazy people a free ride.

And posting names that you've got bids on is the ultimate in stupidity.

Bidawinner, you may disagree with my assessment. However, you just show yourself to be rude and incapable of crafting a thoughtful response to a thoughtful post.

Even Stuff has admitted that he made a mistake. He has already revealed his method. If you think this is such a great idea, you can do the work yourself, and then decide whether to keep the info to yourself or whether to broadcast the info on DNF. If I were running DNF, I would make it a general rule that no one should post info like this.

Yes, Stuff's posts and HiOsilvers reply was thoughful and well said by both of them. There is no reason for personal attacks if you take issue with a post.

Lord knows I have also been attacked at these forums because someone differed with me on issues (I was actually right about) but even if wrong there is no need for attacks. For example, I was told simply "I know nothing'' by a member, rather than give his thoughts on the issue too like I had done.

The least you guys who attack so quickly can do is like hiOsilver said, "craft a thoughtful response" rather than a short and abrupt rude post. As hiOsilver said it merely shows how rude and unintelligent some people are!

I see both the good and the bad results from providing lists like these. Maybe they should be restricted to the platinum forum?.

bid you sound like the "cheapskates" (a gregr expression) that take advantage of others. DO your homework and quit relying and taking advantage of stuffs generosity.

It does jack up prices when suddenly 200 people know of a domain that's going to drop. where were you in highschool economics class??

Posting lists like this is not going to make you any friends with people who are big in this industry. In fact, I would bet you are making enemies fast.

i think it's an innocent mistake .
what I find most humorous is that someone would post the names that they wanted to get from the drop in addition to the other names. That's like inviting people to bid on the names you want and drive up the prices.

I hope stuff that you are seeing what we are saying.

Ok, I see I think that someone in this forum did make bids $2000 to all names that I posted? Is that really so? Wow?

Anyway I see that the real big players don`t wan`t that this kind list`s will be published, and I know also why! They have the resources to to this kind of search every day, so they are bidding for many names , and they don`t wan`t that small players could also bid on this names,

But I really think this is last time, I will post that kind list public :)

what really matters is not if people are mad but the reason why you shouldnt post.

if you were going for a dropping name today, why would you tell other people the name was dropping?

simple answer : it informs a guy who might not have known it was dropping who can now go outbid you. If you don't say anything you are much better off.

Yes. You will notice that most of us DON'T BREATH A WORD about any name UNTIL IT'S DROPPED.

This new Redemption Period stuff really sucks. It used to be that the names that had been on hold for YEARS dropped quietly without the newbies using drop lists even knowing they existed. :^(

I think there is definately something screwy happening at NameWinner in the last day or so. My guess is some kid with an out-of-control bidding script.

However, I think generally bids have been up because everyone has been suffering withdrawl from the lack of drops (and possibly saving their money).
