1. Code an application that utilizes NetSol's web lookup feature
2. Lookup thousands of domains with famous trademarks such as Microsoft, Dell, ebay etc.
3. Sit back and watch as NetSol starts receiving dozens of C&D notices in the mail
4. Repeat every 4 days - until they drop this great new "service".

:clap2: great idea.

also, dont forget domains such as dontregisterwithgodaddy.com
godaddyare scum.com wehatedomainers.com

that kind of 'thang' you know so people think what nice guys they are owning these names  & we can tell godaddy too lol

tbh though, the only time i ever search on netsol is when i have to to find details on an old name where owner is too rich or lazy to transfer out
surely no-one EVER handeregges with this pos registry? so why search there?

also though, we should be annoyed but not surprised. havent other registrys been selling the info? as this has been going on for a while it seems?

actually, coding this can be done in under an hour - anyone has a big, big list of trademarks?

I hate liars:
the name is not active and we do not monetize the traffic on these domains
- the domains ARE active, the traffic gets recorded, and the domains have a message:
This Domain is available - Get it Now!

This Domain is Available - Get it Now!

600,000 domain names are registered daily! Don't delay; there's no guarantee that a domain name you see today will still be here tomorrow!
MR. Jonathon Nevett - what's the point of saying the domains are not active, when the entire world can see the opposite?
Adding a "buy domain at netsol" on a page does NOT mean monetization? All funds go to charity?
Another ugly thing:
This protection measure provides our customers the opportunity to register domains they have previously searched
let's say I'm a fan of NetSol, and I register all my names there:I do a search on a domain, see it's available, and go after the credit card.Meanwhile, they sell the domain to another person. How is this protecting ME, as a customer?

This protection measure provides our customers the opportunity to register domains they have previously searched without the fear that the name will be already taken through Front Running.

Wrong: anybody can register domains that have been previously searched for... but only at netsol...

ICANN recently published a report on domaintasting:
http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-07jan08.htm
It seems domaintasting would be stopped, and imho in 2008.

Anti-netsol actions (like mass checking of TM domains) would no doubts make the process of eliminating domaintasting much faster.

Even though I do not participate in domaintasting, from my domainers (or even endusers!) point of view, when _dropping_ pendingdelte domains are tested a few times, and dropped, I may finally acquire my desired domain for a regfee (assuming that its traffic is low and not important for me), after a few tests-drops. Obviously we are speaking about low-quality domains (worth regfee and not more). If the domain tasting would be disallowed, I'd most likely need to backorder such domain name for $60-$70 at least.

Anyway, the explanation of Netsol DOES make sense. Why would somebody check domain availability at Netsol if they want to reg this domain elsewhere? So it is indeed their potential customer. However it is technically unlikely that the domain name searched in this way can become a target of thrid-party domaintasters (not impossible though).

Brilliant! We can also send a bunch of ICANN related domains (ICANNCanBteMyAss, ICANNSucks etc..).

What are you complaining about. I had to spend $100 per domain when I started. They can charge what they want. I was estatic when they lowered it to $70 per domain. It took me 2.5 months to register my first domain and that was considered FAST!

"...we do not monetize the traffic on these domains."

Selling the domain name itself (for an inflated price, nearly the highest in the industry) to visitors to the domain is monetizing the traffic on the domain.

Also if this was done to protect their customers then why are they only reserving the .COM domains? Do they not care about their customers that register other TLD's?

NetSol is front running themselfs! Preventing there customers from registering domains at other registrars, that they checked avail at netsol.

yea, i think the other registrars should express the concern, as these "holded domains" are not available to register at other registrar - only netsol, even if they are "still available"

Count me in as well.

Also, someone should make them reg a bunch of hate based names, and then contact civil rights organizations.
