All the money they have wasted with litigation. They could have used it to just buy the domain if they want it that badly.

You're not suggesting he should have legally changed his last name to Toyota are you? :D

Haha,

I would have asked for lifetime supply of nissan cars, any shape and type,

just to get things started.

This is what blows me away the most:

"You would think this case is over….. but it really isn’t.

MARCH - 2008 Nissan Motor’s trademark registration.
Nissan Motor is attempting to obtain a Federal Trademark Registration for computers and computer peripherals among other classes of goods and services. We feel that Nissan Motor, in this action, is staging a future case against us in the computer and peripherals market.
We are left with no other course of action but to oppose this registration and filed a 90 days extension with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office), which give us until July 16th 2008 to file our opposition."

What better way to try and send a message to the world that you can try and get what you want and bypass the law as long as you have money.

What they are doing here should be criminal, it is an obvious case of a big company just demanding something because they are a big company. I'm glad the courts have not given into Nissan, but I really do hope this man can have some peace.

Absolute scum-bags.

The guy got lucky.
Reading the case history, he used to have auto ads on his site.

You mean when Mr. Nissan had car dealer?
That's when Nissan Motors wasn't Nissan.
It was Datsun.

I will never buy a nissan either, utterly disgusting corporate bullying tactics. I hope one day Mr Nissan gets a very large companstion packet from them for dragging him through this. Abhorrent behaviour from the car giant IMHO. Really don't understand why they never made him an offer and bought it.

I'm sure this is a light-hearted comment, but on a more serious note I would say that by not owning this domain Nissan have probably lost many tens of millions of dollars (possibly very much more) in lost custom and damage to their brand...

Perhaps Mr Nissan would have been amenable to receiving a payday from Nissan Motors but by continuing to pursue this they are only making things worse. Of course, the lawyers always get paid no matter what!

If the media ever took up his story in a big way, then Nissan Motors would have a serious wake-up call.

Maybe someone should do a press release about this whole story
I think if more people found out about this Mr. Nissan would probably win
In addition, Mr. Nissan should turn his site into a blog about his experiences with Nissan

Diguisting manners by Nissan, it shows the danger of the billion dollar companies in our society, with all their power and inhumanity...

Reminds me of the Angels.com case. You have to ask yourself why billion dollar companies like these just dont buy the domain, I think it has a lot to do with power and not allowing the little guy to bully the big guy. Maybe they dont want to be seen as paying too much for a internet name. If you look at how much Nissan spends per year in advertising alone, this is must be a drop in the bucket.
