We have a friend who did that. While his business is no doubt a complete success (he is building a huge dog training complex now) he sometimes misses just training dogs for fun.
While it can be fun to a lot of people, things change when it becomes the food on your table. (But, the rewards are far greater going about it on your own!).
I encourage everyone looking for a companion to check local shelters or rescue organizations for a dog that fits you and your lifestyle.
I'll agree, those are
#2 and
#3 in my book for most people (reputable breeders are still
#1 but all 3 are FAR beyond BYBs, puppy mills, and puppy stores). Rescues are a great way to get a great dog at little cost.
