Others provide more back up analysis such as projected revenue from traffic, comprable sales, etc... This is the type I need. If anyone has seen appraisal that provides this type of back up, please post the appraiser's name.

Jeff here's an appraisal I got from First Domain Name Brokers Inc. http://www.1stdomainbrokers.com

The domain name they appraised for me was DrugChest.com. I don't know how reputable they are. They have definitley been doing appraisals for over 2 years. Their claim to fame is that they brokered the sale of millennium.com and that ABC did a story on them. I bought this appraisal for $20.00 Wasted money? I suspect it was. Ask people here to appraise drugchest.com and we would see if it was. But the $1500 appraisal does seem to be lower than some I have seen.

the consummation of a sale as of a specified date and the passing of
ownership from seller to buyer under conditions whereby: (1) buyer
and seller are typically motivated; (2) both parties are well informed
or well advised, and each acting in what he considers his own best
interest; (3) a reasonable time is allowed for exposure in the open
market; (4) payment is made in terms of cash in U.S. dollars.

Hi,
Where can I get the cooltool? Is mudfence a member of the forum or is that a URL I should go to? Also you mentioned using it the right way. What is the right way to use it? Thanks in advance for your help.
All the best,
Ted Sudol

Hi,
This doesnt answer Jeffb's question, but asks a question about appraisals. What I generally look for in a name is something short, recognizable, one or two words, and makes sense phonetically and logically. I posted some of the names here on the forum to get some appraisals and of the 25 or so names people only thought 4 had value.
So I thought I must be looking for the wrong thing and read some more here on the forum about type in traffic, page rank, and other metrics that indicate value, brandibility, search word strenght.

One of the domains that dropped yesterday was n-uk.com having pretty high numbers for type in traffic - I think the google was 7mill, page rank etc.

So I put it in my list but obviously I didn't have enough horsepower and wasn't quick enough to grab it.

I was surprised to get an email from the registrar offering to sell the name to me for $199. I was surprised that a name that was so highly sought after would be offered by a registrar, who I would assume would know a thing or two about domain name values, would be willing to sell it for so little. Am I missing something? Are my ideas on valuation off? What metrics are important? Thanks in advance for your help.
All the best,
Ted Sudol

Wow...wow...wow.....am I hearing right that in an industry with millions of dollars spent on domains by individuals and companies that no one can state definitively that a domain is worth $1 and that would stand the scrutiny of all players in the domain industry?

And Domainers want other businesses to take them seriously, when they themselves don't even trust their own appraisals. Really..???

How them can Domainers expect to use their domains as collateral when the value might be dodgey? Surely, any industry this old should have reached a stage where there are basic standards for appraisals. Though an end-user may pay more for a domain than a reseller....there should be a measuring stick of value.....'cause perception is not good enough in today's business environment....

So when I hear seasoned domainers say "Domainers understand that the appraisals are worthless" and in another breath wants to sell you one for $xx,xxx based on his perception....I say, not ready, not ready, not ready....
