.com and .ca are totally different worlds. There is no way to base value on one from the selling price of the other.

As I am reading these posts senior members DropWizard.com, ShaunP are also doing the same and they should be able to make a good point for sure. I am sure they both have sold and bought high value .Cas.

I agree, hard to compare .com to .ca in values. 10% might be an average, but could be higher or lower depending on the name.

Hollywood.ca recently sold for 13k I believe, the .com would be worth much more than 10x that, as an example only

None of the cctlds have developed any market depth as compared to .com. But that will change. Large transactions will become routine. I believe we'll see high 5 and major 6 figure sales numbers within the next few years.

I think of the domains as the newspapers, radios or tv stations that started when the technology arrived to make them practical.

Just try saying media baron fast 6x.

We've only just begun.....

Agree with this for sure, I was just saying that the 10% rule can be used as a general baseline in a lot of cases...

Slightly off-topic here, but does anyone know what happens if you don't renew your membership with CIRA? I've gotten a few emails from them and I just want to be 100% sure that non of my .ca's will "poof" dissapear if I don't renew my membership with them.

Thanks

CIRA membership has nothing to do with your domain registrations. You will be fine. Those who don't have membership may want to as they are giving away 1GB USB Flash drives to those that do.

More on the CIRA membership emails

Am I the only one not bothering at all with this week's drop? I see a couple maybe worth development, maybe a traffic domain or two, but really nothing leaps out at me.

I had my eye on a couple that I was hoping to get cheap. I just got out bid on both and don't really care....

Now only if I was buying domains for investment back in 2002!

http://www.caregistration.com/tbrtext.htm

What a drop!

Yep. I ran into several of those in the first few that we own today.

Sadly (from my point of view) I couldn't afford everything that was dropping the quality was so high up till 2005. I remember passing up (maybe) 12 NN domains that were dropping because I just didn't have enough cash on hand to buy :upset:

But at the same time I was wondering if it will ever have value otherwise why are people throwing them away like that.

I so need a time machine......

Think I got officer.ca, opinions?

That is one of the two I was looking at, nice name for sure... It goes back at least to 2002 and the Google results are crazy: Results 1 - 10 of about 256,000,000 for officer ...

well, nice but cannot be developed.. although Google does have results.. I feel, it's not the kind of domain that will have type ins or any traffic, unlike the creditcardapplications.ca, which I am sure would have been a far better domain to own. My 2 cents... no hard feelings please.
