Dear all,

Recent, I have a domain that I want but I was "late" so I cannot back order it using snapname.

I came to dropwizard.com (by a forum member). I wonder anyone has used this services before. Which one will grab the name first (say the owner don't renew his domain).

(I am new to dropwizard), in fact, I don't know how it works.

Advice are welcome and many thanks

Amazing,

How can it do that?

Isn't snapname a large company?

I know a few about dropwizard.com, I just fill helpless (not fast enough to snap the name).

Please kindly tell me if you please.

Dropwizard.com won me premiership.net and that had a namewinner bid and a snap on it.

Gordon handled the transaction smoothly

I would reccomend them.

Hi,

I had a snapback on carguide.net and I also submitted the domain to dropwizard and snapback won. I also submitted hiphoponline.com to Dropwizard and lost hiphoponline.com to a snapback I believe. I haven't had much luck with dropwizard!

I guess it all comes down to the luck of the draw. But judging from the many registrars Snap Names work with, I think their chances are better in getting a domain. Unless Drop Wizard has some secret weapons running at full power :)

Use both if you think a domain is worth it and anything else you can think of!
It's a matter of seconds at drop time - and luck really does play a part in it - so hedge your bets.

I absolutely agree. If the name is worth it, utilize all resources. I think it all comes down to luck.

I'm not sure what you wanted it for, but I think it's just as well you didn't get it. I'm sure you had a specific purpose in mind but it has very low search numbers. 3-word domains rarely have any value. You can still pick up citybycity.info for a reg fee and if you are doing an information city directory that would work great.

A mail-in registration will win over SnapCrap these days. At one time they had an edge, but when their advantage slipped away they came up with an alternative plan…WLS

I think dropwizzard can beat snapnames on crappy names because snapnames uses more resources on the better names.

NameWinner has incentive to go after desirable names with greater resouces.

DropWizard certainly goes after less names and that would give them an edge if they were using equal resources.

Being that there have been no large drops lately, I think you really can't judge which is best. How many names is snap really trying to grab on a drop now. Just a few I would think.

When snapnames is going after 1,000 names in a drop and dropwizard is going after 10 then you would think dropwizard would have to have the advantage.

Snapnames definitely cares if they get the big names. That's what everyone hears about. The more word of mouth, the more people are willing to plunk down $69.00 a pop.

It's all a crap shoot really.

You can have two systems going for the same name, one trying every second, the other every tenth of a second.

If the name drops just after the 1/10 one tried, and the 1 sec one's next attempt is 50ms later. That "slower" system might get the name.

I had snaps on two good names, along with $25 bids on them at NW. They both dropped without warning a couple of days back.

NW got one of them for me, the other went to Ultsearch via MelbourneIT. Snap missed them both.

I didn't have orders for them at other system, as I wasn't really expecting them to drop so soon.

Interesting stuff! Who has the most sophisticated hardware and highspeed connections in the drop game worldwide?

As gregr said, Snap do care about what domains they get - word of mouth means business. I know if I was on their team I'd be trying to beat the others just to be competitive :)

I'd say they also care about how many they get, since a successful snap means another happy customer who'll come back and pay $69 next time. A failure means the snap will be moved to another domain, and that means $0.

Business is business, after all.

I got the domain for $8.75 with NameWinner. :)
SnapNames has highly tuned for non-VeriSign registrars in September.
The domain, however, was not dropped in regular date.
So, SnapNames missed the domain.
Anyway, I guess NameWinner doesn't think anything. ;)
When I got the domain "higashi.net", the internic whois says "no match".

I'm not sure SnapNames gives some priority on good names though.
