It looks like Snapnames is trying to put a stop to automated scripts scanning their database....you have to enter a code every time which does get annoying.

I agree Domnet. It is annoying, but it's a necessary evil.

We have had numerous requests to prevent people from seeing which names have SnapBacks on them. We resisted until now because of the additional hassle for users, but finally decided that changes had to be made.

All searches on the SN site will now require users to input a graphic. Also, when using the multiple name search function, all results will show as available to back-order until an order is actually placed.

Sorry everyone for the inconvenience.

well. like i said before, snapnames wasn't gonna put up with it
for long. the snapcheck guy is scripting them at about 30k queries
a day, if not 3 times that. who knows how many others have the
same/similar script.

it was bound to happen.

I just wish they would require users to input a code say every three searches. This alleviates the hassle for the normal user yet it sets restrictions for those the code is made for.

Dom,

I think a better idea woud be to allow an account user to login and be rewarded 100 credits everyday.

not yet. but no company is stupid enough to let someone script
them day and night, abusing the hell out of their resources,
creating competition, and taking money out of their pocket.

Snapcheck only hurts SnapNames....It helps everyone else(those with auction systems).

it helps namewinner, pool, dropwizard, thefirstname, etc. YES.

it helps everyone? hell no! it creates unnecessary competition.
everyone is wondering why bids are going through the roof.
if the info is free, expect to pay through the nose. that's the
price.

Everyone is entitled to protect their business model and their customers. Like Domain-Retriever said, it was bound to happen, and I don't blame SnapNames a bit. Would have done the same myself.

SnapCheck - So at the end, we all suffer a bit for a service that seemed to be good :)

SnapCheck is horrible.

If only I could use the site i would have no problem.

Any newbie can go into dropping domains and depending on his pockets, do as well or better than us here..

I have no problem with entering a code to do the Snap checks. I have a BIG problem with having to enter my address and credit card info JUST to see if a name is available for Snap. That would waste hours of my time every day.

I just notified Snap that they will not see another dime from me until the 'availability check' is functional again. I spent a couple thousand dollars last month alone, to see a 90% failure rate.

I suggest all current customers refuse to do business with Snap until the "available" check HONESTLY says what it means, rather than wasting everyone's time entering credit card info...

TOTALLY AGREED! You have to "buy" to find out whether a domain has a snap on it??? Absurd!!

Juniper is correct. If they make it difficult to check availability of a snap. Then, it will be ANOTHER nail in their coffin.

The next time you go to Walmart or Target. Knock on the glass door so you can enter. And, also. Show them your credit card thru the glass door. That will make it quicker for them to decide if they want to let you in the store.

Also, inform them that you are there to buy something specific. Not to "just look around".

Too many services to ignore! Snapnames and pool.com

I don't want to support scammers like pool.com either. :(

Who knows someone at register.com, perhaps The First Name needs to follow a Snap model. :p
