Okay, I'm really bored so I decided to upload a few photographs that I clicked while on a school trip.

Our school makes it compulsory for students to spend ATLEAST a week among villagers.
We're not allowed to make contact with our families, carry our own food, not even mineral water (Let alone music players).
The only thing that we can carry is a camera :p

We eat and drink what villagers have. And...we sleep in their homes too.

Well, that should give you an idea as to how lonely it can become for us 'city-dwellers' :disappointed:

I have always had a thing for landscapes, and this trip gave me a good opportunity to practice some photography (Even though it was in the middle of the desert). :eek:k:

Kindly take some time out and have a look at the photographs clicked by me and do leave comments (Even if they're not positive).

Thankyou,
Arjun.

Really nice, Arjun. The camera looks like a non-digital, if I'm correct. But 90% of a good picture is composition and that's left to the photographer's eye :) If I were you, I'd invest in a digital camera to experiment further. Watch the light, it can be your friend or your enemy :) Here's my flickr link with just 3 pics (I'm too lazy to upload more at this point LOL).

As Acro said, light can be a friend or enemy. I think the DNforum Blog cuts the picture quality down dramatically. Very interesting pictures to me. Good work.

Thanks a lot guys :D

Yep, those were from a non-digital camera..(We weren't allowed to carry digital cameras) Thats because of the stark contrast between the 'urban' and the poor people...It could've 'enticed' them.(...thats what the teachers felt at that point in time).

The village is in the western part of India (Its a part of Rajasthan - the driest state of India).
Its name is Phalodi, and its about 20 miles from the nearest city (Jaisalmer).

For food umm....can't remember (This was a year ago, lol) but I do remember having VERY oily food..and you know, the water there was SICK! In some parts of the village, it was salty, and in some parts far too sweet..

Only I know how I survived that week :p

Thanks a ton Arcoplex - I'll keep that tip about lighting in mind in my future photography.

Jaisalmer is a desert, and 20 miles off it would be literally in the middle of the Thar desert.

Nice pics. Feel good after a little adventure?

Yep :D

Especially once I caught sight of my car (No more AC-less nights in the hot desert environment. :D)

Do visit India once in your lifetime, you won't regret it.
(If you'd like me to write you a decent list of places to visit, I'll be more than happy to do so.)
