I noticed Spywares.com sold for just over $4000 and I was one of the initial bidders.

It was radiculously low price.

What are your thoughts?

I noticed end users sales are stronger than ever.
But many good names sell low these days specially if no endusers join the auctions.
Domainers to domainers type of auctions are low...in the next months I think this trend continue.

Yes, I regret I assumed it would end up high price and did not put it in my diary.

I've seen the same trend. A pair of names I wanted a year and a half ago were selling for $500,000. They were offered to me earlier this week for $250,000. Interestingly, this same comapany was aggressively acquiring domains and had a division doing this. If I'm not mistaken, they have over 450000 names. They would hardly sell a name unless is was for lots of money. This same company now has a new division that's dedicated to selling names. Oddly, the guy that headed up acquisitions, now heads up the sales group. We didn't buy, even though the price is quite attractive. I wonder if they, being such a large player, have some inside information that prompted to go from buying to selling on the relatively cheap?

You just saved $4k on what would have been a bad purchase IMHO.

The plural kills the name. It isn't worth 4K IMHO.

Agree with everyone else, someone paid through the nose for a nonsense domain - there is no such thing, may as well be spywareL.com or spywareT.com ...

It is an awkward tense. It is like getting catched.com to my ears. It went for an ok price I guess. Edit: I noticed the OP is British so I don't know, the grammar differs. In the UK they say "maths" while to an American that just sounds strange.

Yes, the same for many latins. Always adding an "s" at the end of everything. I agree though, worth very little to me. Certainly not zero value, but not what was paid imho.

Here I came to this thread thinking I was going to see some outrageous claim on how Spywares sold for high xxx,xxx and was relieved to see that it was sold for the amount.
logic people looking at this auction: When thinking of spyware or whatever, who the hell, is going to say to their friends' as a recommendation. "Oh yeah go google spywares protection" Or I think this sounds better: "Go look up spyware protection"

Crazy wabbits!

i agree Big, on your second point .

Few things to consider:

Spyware wasn't a real term when it was registered, it then exploded with traffic, whilst something new won't come out tomorrow called spywares, i believe it will get some type in from people thinking it's the plural term, also don't forget where the 's' is positioned next to the 'e' it will get some typo action.
Personally I wouldn't have paid 4k for it, if i had seen on the forum for 2k i would have nailed it.

Here is an interesting article everyone needs to see anyhow on a number of points, we all dream of one of our babies growing up like this, and i'm not talking about Sahar lol

 Spyware story

For me, I can't get excited about the word at all.

I can not see people typing in Spywares, nor do I think it is all that great of a word.

Every one will say Oh, well...it could make a great site for this and great site for that.

Personally, I think the plural kills it and the very word itself has negative connotations.
