Lord, its killing me.
Someone where my wife works is losing their home to foreclosure (husband had been laid off and out of work now for over a year) and has two gorgeous pedigreed field labs.
The family has to move to an apartment and can't take the dogs.
They are three year old litter mates, one chocolate and one yellow sisters.
We just can not take anymore in.
We have 8 dogs and its impossible to take any more in at this time, not to mention that would be 7 of 10 dogs are good sized labs.
As much as it hurt to say no, I just can not imagine what that family is going through.
EDIT: 1150 am
My wife just called me.
One of our therapy dogs, Cotton, has been requested to attend North Carolina School of the Arts this Sunday.
Why? They want her for their annual pre-finals celebration.
NC School of the Arts (think Julliard of the South) is quite prestigious. They have this event that they sponsor for the students to get out for a day of entertainment and fun.
This concept of using the therapy dogs is just to have well behaved dogs on the Campus for a few hours for the kids to sit and pet them to unwind from all the studying they are doing.
NC School of the Arts is a unique place of high school and College studies in one, even master's programs.
My wife is very excited to have this invitation. Cotton has made quite a name for herself locally along with the reading therapy program we created. In addition, she has been involved in therapy or counseling sessions at the Children's Home. Her role then is to sit with the child or troubled teen to be a caring friend and something to pet that is soothing during the session. This has already shown to be such a strong positive results as not once has their been shouting matches and not once has anyone stormed out of the room since Cotton has been present.
Dogs RULE!
