Hype is defined by the following:

*a swindle, deception, or trick.

MobiHaters are simply jealous & ignorant

BTW - Ignorance is defined as; lack of knowledge, learning, information, uneducated, unaware, or uninformed

I did not praise any .mobi names & sales. I still think the extension is a sham & won't be anything after the hype dies down..

great post, and i'd like to add the hundreds of other .mobi domains regged by big business, but the haters here will just say they are only protecting their brand, but the fact is they are not - they've registered very generics some tied to their brands, some not - here are a couple of examples...

newyearseve.mobi - disney
boulevard.mobi - american express
babysteps.mobi - ge
evite.mobi - ticket master
cheeseburger.mobi - outback steakhouse
brew.mobi - qualcomm
and the list goes on and on

who really knows which will be developed, but there must be some intentions here.

I still don't understand why some people feel the need to so viciously attack what is basically just a domain extension.

Most of us who see a future for .mobi are big boys and girls and don't need to be 'saved' by anyone.

The more sales and news .mobi gets, the worse the attacks become.

We all have our own 'gameplan' as far as domaining goes, so why does the .mobi niche get attacked so heavily?

The only reasons I can see are:

1) people who said .mobi would fail in the beginning don't want to be proven wrong

2) all the money going to .mobi in the secondary market isn't going to other extensions, hence people might feel they are losing sales and exposure

3) .mobi is taking attention away from other extensions. how many big discussion threads have there been for .net or .org lately? the big discussions seem to be about .com, .mobi, cctlds, and idn's. Personally, I don't come to dnforum to talk .net or .org that much.

4) mobile sites will have a big future, and demand will be primarily for .com's and .mobi's to make them, not .net, .org, .info and others.

5) if .mobi does get big, it will be hard to take for those who missed out, when they were fully involved in the domain market and could have been chasing .mobi's last Sept/Oct

BTW: I don't hate .net or .org, but let's be honest, how much discussion do they really get around here?

MobiHaters are simply jealous & ignorant

BTW - Ignorance is defined as; lack of knowledge, learning, information, uneducated, unaware, or uninformed

Ignorance is defined by people who still don't get it. All the dribble you just posted means jack squat when most .mobi's owned by the All Kneepad Team are nowhere near the quality of the examples you met.

Some companies do get the names to protect their brand name. Others unveil things with it or mostly the same stuff but in a friendlier layout. This doesn't mean the extension is worth a damn.

Most of the big sales are just people with too much money on their hand exchanging names. Sort of reminds me of LLL.com's where most sales are the same group trading the names thrown in with the eventual end user sale.

So the mobi lovers are excited about the direction of the extension. Instead of hooting & hollering at every little pro mobi happening, spend time finding or purchasing names worth a damn.

No sense in registering your 11th best .mobi on your list & saying xxx, xxxx for it.

Get real.......

This is a comment not specifically to you but the daydreamers of .mobi in general.

As with anything you have your winners, losers, & just plain suckers.

Okay, Domain Guru...seeing that you have already ruled out LLL.com and the .mobi being a worthwhile investment, do advise the forum on what YOU recommend to be "names worth a damn".

Now you have the spotlight. It is shining on you and I know I am anticipating your next words of wisdom.

Obviously you must have tremendous insight into market analysis and trends to be making such bold statements. We are blessed to have you join the forum and be the guiding light in these matters.

So do go on and lead the way or shall this remain an exclusive secret so you can corner the domain market.

As with anything you have your winners, losers, & just plain suckers.
Obviously, you would most certainly place yourself in the winners category.

I'm just trying to figure out where the rest of us would fall in with our LL.coms or LLL.coms or the LLL.net and LL.net.

Most of us?...

Can't argue with that. Most of those names would suck in any extension. Obviously someone who could benefit from the forum members and could learn from some. Perhaps HBK216 can be a tutor.

Ignorance is defined by people who still don't get it.
Definitely worth framing and saving.

This is a comment not specifically to you but the daydreamers of .mobi in general.

As with anything you have your winners, losers, & just plain suckers.

you seem emotional. no reason to attack .mobi owners. I dont know who you are or what you do or what your job is, but without you posting your comments about .mobi, you need to prove something. You just cant bitch about how bad the extenstion is when "you" dont know anything about mobile devices nor the mobile industry. I work in it in Tokyo. I see mobile companies making a "killing" with their mobile business. There needs to be a set standard in seperating mobile and pc.

And by looking at your previous posts, you just like to attack people. I highly recommend you stay clear of .mobi posts. I know a lot more than you do about "mobile" and "mobile industry" on an international level than you do. Are you still using old text-messaging!? You are too behind to even comprehend the technology of mobile.

I hope that i only have to say this the F***ing 83rd time........:
.mobi is not a new technology. It is only a better way to bring users in to their mobile website (that is when you get a real mobile phone). Yes, the majority of .mobis are forwarded to .coms. The database is already made so there is no reason to move the files to a .mobi domain (duhhhh). I have noticed that WAP is still being used for mobile devices. um, im sorry, but wap is not used widely internationally.

I am a strong supporter of .mobi cause it opens up new opportunities for mobile businesses. I have magazines to prove how many crazy domain extenstions that are used. Yes, we can use QRcodes to access mobile websites, but when we read the magazines at the bookstore, the staff thinks that we should buy it. So when we just simply see a short name with a .com, net, or even .mobi, the users will come.

We also have official websites. But the extension is long if you look up the URL from your mobile phone. how the hell can you tell your friend or others about the site!? Ah, you say, "use .com .info .net". Ok, well, lets see your list of .com .info .net and how much you are willing to sell it for. Ah, you want to sell it for $600,000!? Big companies would just laugh in your face.

I dont know why im wasting my time with you. Obviously, you think you know it all, when in fact you dont know "anything" about .mobi or the mobile industry. so, im expecting you reply with your bitching and putting us down. I dont care how many years youve been selling or buying .coms. I dont give a rats rear how long youve been a member. It doesnt mean you know more than we do about domains. Just you have been here for a while. thats it. But please do tell me what your occupation is. Then i will tell you mine. THEN we will all know who is right about this .mobi extension. Im waiting.

Im getting really tired posting OBVIOUS facts about .mobi and the industry of mobile to ignorant people. You are stuck in the past. Go complain elsewhere and stop wasting out time. We are all friends here. we dont need people to crap on our posts. especially if they are NON-PRODUCTIVE.

Ps cowboy, I usually end threads when people crap on .mobi.

Once again I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying. I am not saying LLL.com's are bad investments. I'm just stating an opinion on how I notice a lot of LLL.com's seem to be traded amongst certain players. This gets mixed in with the big end user sales LLL.com holders are looking for.

I think LLL.com's are worthwhile investments.

Is the smartass comments your way of saying you don't get it? I'm curious as that is the vibe I'm getting.

Some of those .mobi examples posted above are exactly what I'm talking about. Real winners are people (not myself as I never wanted to get involved in .mobi) holding names like stocks.mobi, news.mobi, music.mobi etc.....

These are quality names that fit the extension & make perfect sense. Unfortunately too many rah rah .mobi lovers think that the big sales & development of top notch names helps their crap .mobi when it really doesn't.

Instead of people discouraging the wasting of money on names like

polity.mobi
liger.mobi (ovt 24264)
kute.mobi
gauntlet.mobi

which won't be helped by anything .mobi accomplishes, it seems people want to just go for a ride where many will end up losing cash.

Hey Doc, you know the buyer has bought quite a few Premium mobis?

Here is a little extract from the article:
Dotmobiz.com spoke to the buyer, Paul Chmiel from Houston – Texas: “I, as many, feel dotmobi has a very promising future. I see the mobile web changing our lives in the future and the way we do business”, Chmiel says. For that reason he acquired more dotmobi domains in the past few months. A few of them are Doc.mobi and Africa.mobi, which were acquired via private deals. He also did some business with Jeremy Padawer, by acquiring Cancun.mobi and Military.mobi. Via Sedo.com, Chmiel purchased Invest.mobi, Pink.mobi and Dish.mobi.

I take it you have had a few restless nights?
Somebody stealing your name! Maybe you could reverse hijack him?

you seem emotional. no reason to attack .mobi owners.

You talk about me being emotional? Look at the tirade & assumptions you felt so compelled to rant on about. I could care less what you do for a living. I wish you luck with whatever it is although it is irrelevant to this conversation.

Calm your .mobi passion for a second & actually read what I'm saying. I am sharing an opinion based on common sense. I'm sure the most sane .mobi supporters can realize that many of the names being registered nowadays are not going to accomplish much if anything.

There is one thing to be confident about quality names in the extension & its potential. There is a totally different animal when talking about garbage names period.

Seriously why does any anti .mobi point of view get the masses wanting to go crazy? You would think someone had their first born attacked or something.

I'll break this down one last time.

In my opinion (I & everyone is entitled to have one whether you agree or not) I think the extension is being highly overrated at the present time.

Some real quality names have automatic potential mixed in with possible branding of certain names thrown in the mix.

A decent % have some quality names & will most likely end up ok.

A high % I think will have this be a losing investment because the quality of names being registered is quite low.

I'm not wishing .mobi death or something, I'm just questioning the logic of the daydreamers in general.
