I got one also,

The following 23 names have been removed from your portfolio: MEDICALMARIJUANAUSES.com GAYTIMES.us MONKEYBIZ.ws RSEXSHOP.com TOPGAMBLINGSITES.info mortfages.com GLOW-SEX.com SEXFLO.com ELOVE.bz WEBPOKERONLINE.com breasts.bz popejohnpaulii.pl xxxEPICKS.net BATINGTHEMASTER.com FEMLES.com MATEFIND.biz breast.ms BESTERECTIONPILLS.com SEXKEEY.com CASINOWEBONLINE.co.uk TUAMATEUR.com WOMANSEXUALITY.com CRAZYSEXYCOOL.net

The funny thing is I got rid of most of these names and those I still have dont belong on the list. How did mortfages.com make the list... LOL

Acro

the mortfages.com name made the list because it has the word 'fag' in it.

Predator,

The industry is changing whether you or I or anyone else agrees with it. It wants desperately to clean itself up.

That means eventually the following types of domains will be Taboo.

TM
TM Typos
Adult
Gambling

Yes all those names will continue to make money but it will be harder and harder to find places to park them or monetize them and they will be forced to affiliate or PPS very soon.

Google and Yahoo don't want them and neither do most companies.

This should not be news to many as it's been coming down this road for a while.

ps. nothing agaisnt Predator, I was just answering his question ;)

-=DCG=-

Hi DCG,
yes i agree to a point. I think there is NO place for violent domains, bestiality etc, dodgy tms etcetera
Most are in agreement with this!
However to lump everything in with this is a big mistake.
Two factors:
1/ Human nature, which cannot be escaped
2/ Supply & demand

I am of course referring to mainstream Adult & Gambling.
There will always be a demand & therefore always a supply. The US may have slipped through some rules via the back door
(sorry about the punn! )
But they (US & iCANN) may not police things forever.
One man's loss is another man's gain & the demand will be mopped up by other countries no doubt. They will find a way.
If i ran a major site i would be conscious of the public profile & the law, but don't think i would do an 'afternic'.
We're all adults & they're quite capable of keeping strict sections for different categories. To disallow a domain like butts or tits, would be madness IMO.
Political correctness is at an all time silly high so i wouldn't rule out anything with the current administration.
Depends who gets in charge next time, then they'll change it all again.
I mean if the next US president has got a load of 888.COM shares, or he's personal friends with Hugh Hefner, who knows what may happen! LOL

acronym007-

I see in the list you posted, that Afternic also zapped a "marijuana" related domain that has absolutely nothing to do with sex nor gambling...

Not surprised though, since various "drug" related domains, in my extensive experience, are even tougher to monetize than even very explicit adult names.

They sure are filtering heavily ...

hospitales.be ... "spit"?, "tales"?

JohnPeelDay.co.uk ... "Pee"?

CasinoMagician.net ... ok, this one is obvious

AntiVirusCenter.net ... "Virus"?

SmartBombMedia.net ... "Bomb"?

Quite honestly, I don't understand why 4 of those 5 were removed ... perhaps someone here from Afternic can fill us in on what's happening; maybe their filter is broken?

Nope hospitales.be was removed because it has "Ho" & "les" in it.

I have 369 names kicked out but the following should not be included. Now, it is possible that some where categorized in the Adult section intentionally or by mistake. But I know they all were not. For example, they include TravelVoyeur.com. Check that out and tell me if it's nasty.

I hope they are not kicking out anything with the word gay in it.. That would not be right.

This is amusing to watch. I guess when all is said and done my 10 year old can have a safe place to trade names. He's been looking to get into the business.

The Puritans are now in control. A certain parking company is now having me remove totally legal adult names. Well, I'm removing ALL my domains from there as a show of what I think of their crusade of purity.

You're right a good part of those listed domains are completely harmless ... and mortfages.com is just ridiculous ... they apparently looked at the middle of the typo "fag" and determined it to be adult.

It doesn't surprise me that they have obviously taken very little time to actually sort through the names and determine what "are" Porn and gambling related ... they don't even take the time to make sure that they are still owned by the same people. That in itself causes problems when they sell names that are no longer for sale by the original listing seller.

Well, well, well....

Even if all this is truly for "business reasons," it very offense to a segment of the population or to anyone that believes in freedom of lifestyle. Apparently, they have removed all names with the word "Gay" in them. What makes "gay" more adult-oriented than "hetero"? Obviously, Afternic believes that anything gay-oriented is offensive.

Why else would they remove my:

Gaycation.com
GayTravels.us
GayCharity.com
GayCharities.com
DateAGay.com
GayDaySpa.com
GaySpa.us
GaySpas.us

Given their apparent dislike of gays, you'd think they would have at least wanted to keep my GayCure.com. LOL!!!

The gay population is actually one of the highest earning demographic groups. Is it not in Afternic's business interest to show domains that might allow sites to show them specialized travel opportunites, charities, health spas, etc.?

If this this was not the intention of Afternic, the big broad sweep of mass deletion/fix later, is just plain stupid. Stupid business. Plus it's going to be a waste of time for us even if they let these non-adult ones back in.

Just plain dumb. Sedo has to be laughing all the way to the bank. And that's a shame too, since they have so many of their own problems.

I'm interested in seeing your list of words that are deleted that should not be, if you'd post them in the comments of my blog entry Afternic Gets a Case of The Goody Two Shoes on this subject.

They sure are filtering heavily ...

I had some SaintJohn... names removed (a city in Canada), I'm assuming because of the word John?

Was even informed of names being removed that were not even mine...

Among the offensive and morally corrupting domains removed from my AFternic portfolio are:

adelaideland.com (I never liked this city anyway)
asexuality.com (I think Mr Collins has reserved this one for himself)
bushsongs.com (In Australia 'bush' means country, in the US, maybe Pres No.42, but at Afternic....)
damppenetration.com (In the UK its damp walls, at Afternic its a sin)
dutchconsul.com - (The Dutch had it coming anyway. All that free sex and those dubious cafes. Serves them right)
dutchliterature.com
dutchrailways.com
dutchsearchengine.com
dutchsongs.com
dutchwriters.com
gynecologynews.com (Even Gyn & Obs MD's aren't safe!)
labmonkey.com (cruelty to animals perhaps!)
queenmattresses.com (We all know what can happen on a queen mattress)
rarebeauty.com (My mullah told me it's a wicked temptation)
redcrabs.com (A great dish in certain parts, but potentially itchy at Afternic)
tricktreat.com (I always thought Halloween had satanist overtones)

Keep up the good work guys....but without me. Cheers
