I know the Bido team is legit, well known, respected and honest domainers but I must say I disagree with not being able to opt-out unless you are able to first login. I think you should be able to opt-out regardless of you being a logged in member or not.

Plus even if you are a member, and manage to successfully login and opt-out of emails it still fails and the emails continue anyway. Been there and done that recently. Later tried again but could not login due to usrname/paswrd issue.

Bido could get in trouble or sued under anti-spam grounds for not having a mailing list opt-out feature (which also functions) as required by law - as far as I know.

The main reason I wanted to opt-out is their emails are far too frequent plus I have recently decided to stop buying many domains (I mostly hand reg these days) and never liked too or was inclined to buy names at auction anyway, from Bido, Afternic, Sedo or anyone else for that matter. During the years I was a Bido member I purchased just one name for only low xx.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I am having the techs rebuild the email system so its one-click unsubscribe.
We don't always get everything right the first time around, but we try.

Here is one I got late last night:
tribaltattoos.info

This one I dropped, and a new owner just registered it a registered it a few hours ago -- LONG before he owned it. Here is the current registration info:
Registrant Name:Hung Lam
Registrant Organization:
Registrant Street1:154/52/10 Street 41,
Registrant Street2:Ward 16, District 8
Registrant City:Ho Chi Minh
Registrant State/Province:Ho Chi Minh
Registrant Postal Code:70000
Registrant Country:VN
Registrant Phone:+84.82607712
Registrant Email: [email protected]

So now you know at least one person who is violating your policy. Let's see if you ban him.

Juniper, it's quite easy to explain. Allow me:
- this guy registered the domain
- submitted it to Bido
- our tool checked whois ownership
- the whois database of the data partner we use hadn't updated their cache yet
- they returned an old "stale" record to us
- you were emailed instead of the new owner

There is no abuse going on, just a technical challenge that as you can see gets frustrating at times.
