A Turkish stole my e-mail account and change the retrueve password secret question to this :-

en sevdiðin hoca?

Do anyone know the answer?

He had also stolen 2 of my ICQ UINs because he had the passwords retrieved through the hacked account.

Damn it!

Secret question RULE #1:

Your answer SHOULD NEVER be anything relevant or even related to the question!!

The secret question and answer seems to be an appalling loophole in security.

Why bother having a secure and hard to discover password if the secret question is the town you were born in!?

Some pre-set secret questions ask for e.g. your mother's maiden name, the last 4 number of your social security card or the town where you were born. That's EXACTLY what I meant by my earlier post here: NEVER answer those secret questions with a relevant or even related answer. A better answer for the "town" question would be "London" when you were actually born in "Paris"; but the best answer should be "Coffee". :)

What happens if it is so unrelated I forget? :D

Just like your passwords, you shouldn't just make up secret questions and answers on the spot. I'm not saying that you can only have ONE such pair, but it may be a good idea to use at most 3-5 sets so you'll know VERY well what they are.

Was it a paid account (like @aol.com) or free hotmail type ?

That's bad.
From now on, use your own domain and create an email. :)

Question: Is the stolen email the admin of any of your domains or domain accounts?
That might be a bigger problem and will need real attention.

Agreed, and it does look more profesional anyway - but has it's own problems and caused many a domain to expire. It's recomended only if the site is active and well taken care of.

Domain email is great - anyone hack into it - you can delete it and recreat it with new passwords :)

A couple of months ago, someone from Turkey stole my $6.95 ENOM reseller account, the one I had purchased from Giant Domains. I wonder if this is the same character?

Question for the MODS and for the talented computer geeks in this forum ... Any way to trace this theft?

Perhaps it's the same person. Makes one wonder, that's for sure ...
