Nope, thats not true. He wanted 80k to 100k all the last 12 month. I worked on that price for many month, around 20th of Dec he suddenly went down with the price, seemed to badly need money. Sadly someone else bought then. Who ever bought it will have to spend some beers to me. Without my constant work the domain would never have been sold so cheap. Superhot domain, cheap price! I sold hotel.info for almost 300,000 Dollars 2008, and travel.info in 2007 for 116,000 Dollars. .info gets really strong, a good TLD.

khordubai.info
fremont.info
unionhill.info
cocobeach.info
lagunahills.info
miamigardens.info

My mistake, I'm sorry I was a fair bit out on the date & Price, I just checked my sedo offers I have made, his counter offer for dubai.info was 38,180 euros on 08/12/06

maybe that was a previous owner ??

anyhow, well done with your sales :) wow !!

ps - I have a question for you but I can't post it here, I'll drop you a PM

Thanks

so, someone pays 116k for travel.info, then he or she decides to just place a few links and some Adsense (violating the adsense TOS), instead of developing the domain?
why?

There are domains sold for higher amounts, and parked.

Examples: http://invest.com/ sold for 1 million in 2008
http://guy.com/ bought for 1 million in 2007

and thats just 2 out of 7 I checked!

I'd never heard of the hotel.info deal either. It would be great for the extension as a whole if you could release some actual evidence to support your claim. Perhaps show DNJ the evidence, many people would appreciate it, me included!

I think it's OK if I tell the price in a forum like that. But I think it would be a breach of contract if I show my contract to anyone outside. hotel.info is a non published deal, thats how it is. Good that insiders know it, it gives new hope to the .info market.

BTW: hotel.info had no serps and no traffic when it was sold.

Dubai is a city....

Well as already said: Its an Emirate. But actually its a company. Its a large company with a Director and a good Security staff.

Dubai and New York city had been the only two entities applying for a TLD so far. That was in 2000. And they both go again in 2009 (or 2010, 2011 or whenever ICANN will start the new RFP). .dubai and .nyc!

It's actually an emirate. But not bad for an american

Shi.., only 4 more days of american-bashing left, then we have to look out for someone new to bash.

The CNBC documentary on Dubai is a nice slice of the development history and enormous monetary investment. Despite the economic slowdown right now, I believe it's a city of the future and will proceed as planned once the market resets.

The Dubai.info sale was very nice. The owner has sold other nice geodomains including Houston.info some years ago.

I see little value in .info in general

I see little value in .info in general

in general, ccTLDs have the highest value in their respective countries

.com is de facto the U.S. ccTLD (not .us)
and the USA is still the biggest market
especially because of type-ins
and the whole domain and advertising industry

but non-U.S. .info geo-domains are as good as .com's - if you want to use them

(if you only want to sell them, then .com's are better, of course)

Is there a place where you can see a focused set of Dubai domains for sale, lease, wanted, etc?

Congratulations on an excellent sale!

Hey Wot: I can understand that. It's a common misconception. Everytime I see a $1.80 per click however on one of my .info domains, I just smile.

SiliconValley.info sold for a little over $15K a month or so ago on TDNAM.

I thought this was a superb price and perhaps underpriced. I would think that a higher profile sale/auction this would have been minimally double.

I am aware of the economic conditions so this is all purely conjecture.

I have been seeing some incredible .info and .net sales in numerous places.

Naturally every one seems to prefer the .com in anything, but I will hardly say no to an outstanding short name in any gTLD.

Hard to walk away.

Based on all these geo sales people are reporting its amazing the Tampa.info sale in early January 2009 was for only $3500 makes it sound like a real steal at $3,500.

Also note that Miami.us is currently in sedo auction ending today with the current bid at $15,000!

yeah, $3500 for tampa is not much

but $15K for miami is not cheap anymore
(still only one bidder)

Crazy, I didn't knew THAT! I mean, I talk to that guy since 12 month about the dubai.info sale, and he had been owner of houston.info, a domain that I sold in 2007 at a TRAFFIC meeting in the auction for 17,000 Dollars (it was in New York).

Domains sometimes take strange ways. This houston.info went through MANY hands, I bought it from a russian....

Be interesting down the road to see what the IDN Arabic script "Dubai.com" will eventually sell for.

دبي.com
xn--ngbn6f.com

http://www.google.com/search?um=1&hl=en&q="دبي"&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=iw

20,000,000 SERP, 600,000 google images.

دبي is taken in .com, .net, .tv, and all other extensions which are available for IDNs (none are owned by me).
