Got a quick question on EscrowDNS. The answer may come from Justin or anyone who has used it before....

Say for example, I am the buyer of a domain. Then I start up a transaction. Does the buyer get the instruction email in regard to paying immediately. I.E. Is it an automated process or is it a manual process that takes sometime for the transaction notification to reach the seller?

When you initiate a transaction there will be an email sent to the other party automatically. All of the other emails are not automatic. We do not use cookie cutter emails to send to either party.

How many transactions have escrowdns handled so far, if you don't mind me asking?

Michael,

We normally do over 100-150 per month.

Let's say I wanted to buy a domain that ranged in price anywhere from $1000 to $10,000 and I wanted to pay by credit card.

What requirements do I have to meet?

I have just successfully completed a low $xxxx transaction using EscrowDNS, and based on my experience with the service this will be my Escrow service of choice from now on - escrow.com and Sedo Escrow could both learn a lot from this great outfit.

The transaction was not a simple one - an obscure TLD, a European seller and a South African buyer, and yet the whole process was simple, easy to understand and completed in under 48 hours.

Kudos to Escrowdns - its great to see a new service like this launch and show the big boys how it should be done :eek:k:

You would need to complete a credit card authorization form after initiating the transaction on our site.

Thanks Jaxon.

Also, only 5 days left for free escrow fees.

Actually, Escrow.com does not even acts as a escrow in regarding to domains, because they actually never get the domain!, They ask you to send the domain to the other party, what escrow is that.
This is the service we all have been waiting :)

Well, I've just signed up and didn't receive any confirmation email, and of course I checked my trash folder.
Then I tried to login and to my surprise, I could login,so I don't know if that's who it is supposed to work, with unverified email accounts.

Then, I started my first transaction, and again I didn't receive any confirmation or order email.

So, I decided to send a support request and I got a Database error !! :(

MySQL Error: "Removed" for protecion

Thanks for the reply. We have several support tickets created daily and have never heard of the database error. As for the transaction, we send out all emails manually and today is a sunday so it may take a bit longer than to receive that email.

Ok, well, just as a suggestion, I think the process should involve an initial automated email with a summary of the transaction just started with a note that it will be manually approved sometime later.
It's always good to know what's going on.

Has anyone used this escrow service for .ca domains?

If so, please share how the process went when transferring.

What I am baffled at is the numbers Rock.

We normally do over 100-150 per month.

You state 100-150 transactions a month...
I would guess most are sub $XXXX...
But say the average amount is $1k x 100 transactions at 4% that is approx $48,000 a year...
Minus wages, expenses etc etc etc. Even if we double your numbers its a near losing venture unless purely a one man show.

We have a staff of dedicated support for the site as well.

All the best but imo the domaining community is not big enough to sustain more than one man as far as I can see. Your numbers could be double what I work with and still n ot enough for 2 people after expenses etc.

All the best though.

Thanks JP. Like I have said before, starting a domain name escrow company is NOT lucrative. I do not make profits from the site. I do like to provide a quality service for domainers though so we're not closing our doors. If I have to lose the money that I've made through domaining then so be it.

We have very few if any automatic emails. We can't please everyone. We have automatic emails and people complain about that...we don't have automatic emails and people complain about that...
